Chapter 5: Rescue

Third Person POV

Frisk watched Grillby seal the door from around a corner. They breathed out shakily and faced back forward. They remembered the myth of Orpheus. He could lead his wife out of the underworld if he didn't look back. He did and lost her. They sighed and closed their eyes for a few seconds, taking deep breaths, then continued through the tunnel. The light blue of the walls calmed them slightly but not much. They shivered as they reached a door made out of sharp teeth intertwined (Undyne's door!). They decided even if no one was there they might as well knock.

A few seconds after knocking there was a lot of noise. The sound of things being knocked over and worried shouting.

The door swung open just as Frisk stepped back. Frisk saw a monster fish with a toothy smile with a black tanktop and jeans on. Behind her was a small yellow dinosaur monster wearing a labcoat. Frisk stumbled backwards slightly.

"Alright, you're a kid so I won't be so violent, but Where the Hell is Grillby?" The fish monster snarled.

"Undyne be nice!" The dinosaur monster scolded, and quickly pushed undyne out of the way and signalled for Frisk to come in. They hesitantly stepped inside to see a cottage like house riddled with lab equipment here and there.

"H-hey I'm Alphys! T-this is my G-girlfriend, Undyne" Alphys stuttered happily. Undyne wrapped her arm around Alphys' shoulder.

"Yeah yeah yeah let's skip the formalities. Nothing comes in or out of that tunnel unless Grillby's in trouble." Undyne said quickly, though she wasn't trying to overwrite what Alphys said, just prioritize her friend's safety.

Frisk quickly explained the situation and everything that had happened before they had left.

"That damn bastard." Undyne said sharply.

"U-undyne! T-there are c-children here!" Alphys said, her face going pink and her giving an apologetic smile to Frisk. Frisk just laughed lightly.

"It's alright! Sans swore all the time." Frisk said then immediately covered their mouth. They had specifically not mentioned them being a student in the academy.

Undyne eyes Frisk suspiciously but Alphys elbowed her side.

"So you're F-from the A-academy. T-that's awesome, W-what magic w-were you training for?" Alphys asked nicely, leading Frisk over to a small couch. Frisk sat on it while Alphys and Undyne sat on the love seat.

"Determination!" Frisk said proudly. Undyne smiled at that.

"You're cooler than I thought kid!" She said. This made Frisk happy for some reason. Undyne seemed like a respectable figure.

Alphys seemed more upset by that.

"T-they let kids into t-that class?" She asked nervously.

"Yeah, the academy is practically full of kids," Frisk said, confused.

"That's a bit intense for kids." Undyne said. Her smile had dropped after she had considered what Alphys had said.

"But Monster kids have always been in the academy." Frisk countered.

"Yeah, but monsters have control of their magic from birth, humans it takes a lot more work." Undyne said back, demonstrating by summoning a spear. Alphys' eyes practically turned to stars. Frisk smiled at that. It was hard to find a couple perfect for each other.
