On a world hidden within the far-flung reaches of space stood a Clock. The Clock was brightly lit from within, pulsing with life. It sounded eleven mournful tolls, each one reverberating through the ground. With one final toll, it stopped. The light flared once, mimicking a star in its brilliance. The light went out. No more sound came from the Clock. Time stretched out infinitely during the period between everything and nothing. In a single moment, the planet crushed in on itself, crumbling and condensing to a single particle in the vastness of space. The stars shone on the empty canvas a world had once filled.
