The man came up to Victor on the winner's podium and he lowered his head. The man placed the golden medal around Victor's neck. The crowd cheered even louder now, and as Victor left the ice, flowers on his head and in his hands, he smiled and waved. He got escorted by security and got driven to the hotel, in which he had rented a room for five more days, in a limousine. Once he entered his room, he jumped on the bed and grabbed his phone. He waited. And waited.
After fifteen long minutes, his phone finally started to ring, and he answered the call popping up on the screen with a big, relieved sigh. "Mamochka. How are you?" "Vitya. I'm quite fine, thank you. The doctor says I've gotten worse though. I get him, but I don't want you to worry about me. I just saw your performance, like I always do. You were amazing. As always. My little star." "Thank you. I... What does that mean? You've gotten worse?" "Victor. I don't want you to worry about me. But... I also would never lie to you. They say I won't live for long anymore." "Mom..." Victor felt his eyes filling up with tears. "Vitya, please. Don't worry. You are so young, you shouldn't worry about things like death. Focus on your own life. Your career. Make some friends. Find your special someone. I know you are strong enough to continue everything without me. I believe in you, my precious son. When I will fade away, it will be peaceful, because I will think of you and how wonderful you are. I love you so much, my son." The tears were now streaming down Victor's face. "I love you too, mom. More than I love anyone else." Victor heard his mom cough on the other side of the line, then a soft voice talking to her and then the call was ended.
Besides him being aware of his mom being very ill, besides the fact that he saw this coming, he just couldn't believe that she would soon be gone for good. He cried himself to sleep that night.

RandomDISCLAIMER: I (of course) do not own Victor Nikiforov or any other characters from Yuri!!! On Ice. I am also not saying that this is what happened. This is a fanfiction and isn't supposed to be what really happened, it probably has way less dramatic...
