The party had been arranged at Victor's house one day after Christmas, so everyone could celebrate a nice little Christmas evening with their families just to get drunk for Victor's birthday on the next day. Chris and a few other skaters had done most of the organization. Victor didn't really know who to invite, but Chris said he needed to invite lots of people because he was turning 18 and stuff, so he invited plenty of other skaters he (barely) knew, a few junior skaters, and Yakov, and told him to bring family. Speaking of Yakov...

Yakov went crazy when he saw that Victor had cut his hair, but Chris calmed him down a bit with many pro arguments like "it's just hair", "he looks hot with it", "short hair is in", "it's a new image, it is unpredictable, people will love it!" Victor had never been so thankful for a friend before, maybe that was also because he never actually had friends.

Then, the first guests arrived. Victor was quite excited, he was still a bit unfamiliar (and uncomfortable) with so many people wanting to talk to him all at once. Everyone stared at him in shock when they first saw him, then they started bashing questions about his hair at Victor. Victor just said he felt like he needed some major change every time he got asked about his hair. He was very careful not to drink too much, alcohol was new to him and he didn't want to say something wrong or something about his mother in drunkenness. All in all, it was a fun party. Most girls tried to get at least a bit of attention from him, and he tried to stay polite and gave them compliments.

After a few hours, he barely was able to have an actual conversation with anyone except for Yakov, so he decided to also drink a few glasses. But he still didn't get seriously drunk. Victor felt quite proud because of being able to be so strict with himself. "Come on Vitya, drink a little more!" Chris put an arm around his friend's shoulders. "No, thank you." Chris hopped on the table and raised his glass: "He's 18!" The others screamed back with their glasses in the air: "He's 18!" A girl in a flaming red dress got on the table and jumped in Victor's direction. He didn't want her to get harmed, so he catched her. He didn't even know who she was, she was probably some skater's sister or cousin. Other girls looked at her with jealousy, and Victor let go of her as soon as she seemed to be stable enough to stand on her own two feet. She got very clingy and didn't want to let go of him, so he politely tried to push her away. "Hey, I'm just being nice to you. You catched me... Don't you like me? Do I look ugly? Is that it? Ohhh, that's it... I look ugly... Ahhhhh... I knew ittttt..." She was being very dramatic, mainly due to the alcohol. "No, that's not it. You look beautiful. You just drank a bit too much and I don't even know your name", Victor said, trying to stay calm. "I... I didn't even drink that much, you're lyingggg... Victorrrrr... I love youuuuu..." "Well, everybody loves me", Victor said with a smile. "Wow, saying that felt hella good", he thought. The girl giggled and put her arms around his neck. "I wanna kiss youuuuu..." "Yeah, you drank too much. Let go of me, please." Victor gently pushed her away. "Butttt... You said I look beautiful! Why won't you kiss me? Come onnnn..." A thought popped up in Victor's head. "Why not? This is my party. She's drunk, she probably won't even remember it. And the last time I kissed someone was a few years ago. The kiss won't mean anything. I don't need to always be the good boy. I'm 18. I'm not even a boy anymore. Holy shit, I am an adult. Wow, it really took me some time to realize that." "Hm..." Victor shyly placed his arms around her waist. "Yayyy, I knew you like me!" She squealed in happiness. "Yeah..." She grinned and brought her head closer to him, until their lips touched. It was only a short kiss, but Victor's cheeks still went as red as a tomato. "Awww, you look so cute when you blush! Blushy Victor is the cutesttttt!" She giggled. Victor gave her a little smile and then finally pushed her away. "I... Need to go to the bathroom", he excused himself and didn't wait for an answer or anything, he turned his back to her and went upstairs to the bathroom which was only accessible through his bedroom.

He looked in the mirror and wiped the red lipstick from his lips. "Why did I do that?" He silently asked himself. "That's not like me at all." "Am I not kind of a new Victor now...? I don't know. It felt... Wrong." He sat down on the edge of the bathtub and pulled at his now short hair. He felt something wet dripping on his thigh. He looked at the drop vanishing and soaking through his pants and realized that he was crying.
