Melo

I'm now on FaceTime with Jordan telling her about my day.

L: I'm now $1,250 richer. With a new Rolex and a chain on the way.
J: Melo out here hustling y'all.
L: You know the vibe.
J: What made this happen?
L: Everyone believes that I let Gelo beat me in a one on one race that he allegedly won fair and square.
J: Damn, they called the reinforcements on you then.
L: Damn straight. I ain't never felt so pressed before in my life.

She laughs as I shake my head in disbelief.

L: My day is technically over. So what you doing for yours next week?
J: Probably sleeping in.
L: Either that or making TikToks.

Her jaw drops as I roll my eyes.

J: Those TikToks give me life sir.
L: Yeah okay.

She huffs out a breath as I grin.

L: Follow me back on IG.
J: I do what I want.
L: Don't make me come out there.
J: And do what?

I shake my head, licking my lips.

L: Swear you like playing with me.
J: On me, I don't.
L: On me, you do.

She rolls her eyes now. I run my hand over my hair, staring at her.

J: What?
L: I can't look at you?
J: And not say nothing? No.

I suck my teeth.

L: I do what I want.
J: Same here.
L: Mmm.

I run my hand along my face, covering my mouth when I yawn.

J: How was your workout?
L: The usual.
J: I take that as it being good then.
L: Yeah.
J: Mhm.
L: What's your schedule looking like?
J: With the exclusion of basketball related activities, just class.
L: What time do those classes start?

I listen to her fiddle around with what sounds like a piece of paper, before she responds to my question.

J: I have class Monday and Wednesday from 12PM to 1:20PM. Then I have another class those same two days from 2:30PM to 3:50PM. Class on Tuesday and Thursday from 11AM to 12:20PM. And another class those days from 1:45PM to 3:05PM.
L: No class on Fridays?
J: Those are designated study hall days. We had to choose our classes around that day.
L: So I assume that's the day for you to get all your work done?
J: Exactly.
L: Sounds legit. What's your GPA so far?
J: 3.25
L: Why don't they just round up?
J: This is the education system we're talking about. They're gonna make everything hard. It's hard enough trying to hold on to that 3.2 as it is.
L: You're doing good though, so there shouldn't be any worries.

She nods.

L: I'm proud of you.
J: Thanks. I think that's the first time you've ever said that to me.
L: Don't let it blow your head up.

She laughs.

J: I'll take my compliments as they come.
L: Mhm.

She smiles and I can't help but to smile back.

L: What are you looking at now?
J: You.
L: So you can look at me, but I can't look at you?
J: Yup.
L: That's foul.

She giggles.

L: It's alright though, I know where you live.
J: Y'all hear sum?
