On one hand he could kill tanjiro kamado and prove his loyalty to muzan kibutsuji.
or he could proceed to finish exacting his revenge against the former hashira that killed his people and parents. Tanjiro had already drawn his katana as zenitsu and inosuke had shown up.
Naruto then said.
"Consider yourselves fortunate that I'm letting you all live.... however.
THIS ISN'T OVER FORMER THUNDER AND FLAME HASHIRA!!!.
REST ASSURED YOU WILL DIE BY MY BLADE AND I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!!!."
Tanjiro then said.
YOUR NOT GETTING AWAY YOU FILTHY DEMON!!!. I'LL KILL YOU!!!.

Naruto then dropped a smoke bomb as he took the sword of Sakonji Urokodaki as his trophy.
Naruto then said.
"We shall meet again tanjiro kamado. If you know what's good for you... you will learn to hate me... and nurture that hatred the same way you have for muzan kibutsuji. Until next time."
Naruto then vanished without a trace of any way to find him.In fact tanjiro couldn't even smell him out because of the lingering smell of gunpowder.
the loud bang from the explosion of the smoke bomb had also left zenitsu unable to hear anything at all. Simply put.
Naruto was completely untraceable at the moment and everyone's vision was blurred because of the huge smoke cloud.
The sound hashira uzui then said.
"I'm impressed and I have to give the Fox demon credit for covering his escape so well.Not only did the smoke blind us.
but because of the heavy smell of gunpowder and high pitch echoes of the explosion it made after hitting the ground he managed to cripple tanjiro's incredible sense of smell and zenitsu's incredible sense of hearing.
This kitsune's obviously done his research in the ways of shinobi quite thoroughly. The question is... just how thoroughly has he done his research???.
I'm beginning to think there's more to this Fox demon then we've been told. What else haven't you told us Lord ubuyashiki???."
And ubuyashiki said.
"I'm afraid that I had forgotten to mention one other thing about the kitsune... and that is the fact that when their cornered they can become quite resourceful when they need to make a Hasty retreat.
A kitsune's intelligence exceeds any other demons level of intelligence. If their surrounded by multiple enemies then they will not fight.
They will instead resort to retreating and escape to come up with a different plan since they never use the same strategy more then once.
This is why I want all hashira and lower level demon slayer core members to travel in groups of 3 when hunting demons from now on.
In a one on one fight you would die against such a strong cunning and resourceful opponent. But as a group you could easily capture him and bring him to us.
He wants revenge and must kill jigoro and shinjuro to do it so we shall use them as bait to lure him out and offer him a position among the demon slayer core.
Should he refuse you may use whatever means necessary to capture him.He is very powerful and must not be allowed to join muzan kibutsuji and the 12 kizuki. Since his kind are immune to poison the least shinobu could do is weaken him.
