Lily's POV:

James was missing and we had no clue where he was. We checked the Marauders Map multiple times but just to find ourselves with the same answer...no James. We decided to try and contact James with the mirror that Sirius had, it was our last hope.

Everyone was concerned when it was evening and still no sight of James. I started to find myself being concerned. I kept looking from the big bright window from the common room, where you could see the misty atmosphere outside, to the red velvet sofa next to me, like if James was about to either barge into the door and sit down on the sofa or as if he would fly past the window on his broom grinning widely, but nothing happened. The marauders, except Sirius who went to find a mirror he and James shared, and the girls were here too, sitting quietly and uncomfortable on the love-seats and the cherry sofa. A bird flew past the huge window slowly, making us all look to it's direction. I looked to Remus, he looked back, he showed no emotion and I presumed he didn't know what to say either. It was only a matter of time until Sirius came in with the mirror, but it certainly felt like infinity. We were desperate for that mirror. As Remus told us the mirror was a way where James and Sirius could communicate when they weren't together, all you needed to do was look into the mirror at the same time when the other owner does, in this case James.  Sirius arrived at the common room tired and breathing in an arrhythmic and exhausted way. Everyone sat up and looked at Sirius in relief.

'Let's try it shall we', I said, my voice sounding even more dry than I thought it was going to. Sirius nodded quietly and moved over to the seat. The mirror was plain grey with no reflect whatsoever and I assumed that it would clear up once James looked into it as well. We all gathered around it each one looking at the grey small object that we put so much hope into. My mind started racing. What if we didn't find James? What if the mirror was no hope at all? What would I do without James? What would WE do without James? I realized that James was a big part of my life now, if I lost him now I don't think I could ever be the same again. Losing a friend, losing more than a friend, maybe losing a loved one. Did I love him? Before I could answer my own question the mirror's grey colour faded slowly, revealing a James, wounds covering his face, lying on a wooden floor looking into the mirror desperately. Sirius moved to get a closer look and his eyes widened at the sight of his best friend clearly hurt and covered in blood.

'Jame-', whispered Sirius but his voice didn't allow him to go further. James' eyes wided too full of hope and relief.

'Sirius. Sirius', James' voice said quietly a tear falling down his eye. I myself started to feel a tear slide down my cheek just by the sight of seeing him like this. James did not deserve that.

'Sirius, listen, the wanna-be's are torturing me. I- they are not here right now, please come and help me-', James quiet said his voice cracking at the please. He had moved closer to the mirror and you could now see every single fresh scar on his face. James' noticed us all and quietly said 'hi'. I could no longer hold back my tears and it felt slowly down my cheek.

'James- James where are you?', I said looking him in the eyes. He smiled slightly at me before answering, 'I believe the forbidden forest but I'm not sure.' He looked around the room behind him. It looked dark and there only was some light from the small windows. 'James we are coming to get you', said Marlene and I looked up to her now. She had some tears in her eyes too but not as many as I did. Suddenly there was a loud thump coming from the mirror and I saw James looking behind him, where a locked door was about to be opened.

'Shit', Remus and stood up, 'we need to go help him right now.' We all nodded and stood up.

'James we are coming', I said to the mirror and James turned around with a small smile at my words, I smiled back but more like pressing my lips together because my mind was racing about unanswered questions like: What if we don't make it on time?
