The awe-inspiring,
mysterious and powerful
world of Pokemon,
in all of its many
shapes and forms!
A wealth of creatures

every nook and cranny
of our beautiful planet
in numbers that may never be
truly known
in their entirety!
Some, masters
of the heavens above;
caretakers and helpmates
of the earth below;
watchful eyes and ears throughout
recorded history,
and beyond!
Living shoulder to shoulder
with people,
while others live solitary lives
in their natural environment.
And then, there are Pokemon
who form vast communities;
all expressing life
in their own unique way!
Setting off larger than life,
breathtaking forms
with equal majesty
in miniature,
the world of Pokemon
truIy is a world of wonder!
Capturing the fantasy of many-"Now what do we have here?" My super strict, old-timey teacher looked down on me with her way-to-small glasses. The woman's dark hair was tied back into a bun, a blue ribbon, matching the stripes of her uniform, keeping it in place. But, of course, it did nothing to lessen the ridiculousness of her nose, I mean, it's huge!
She continued to glare at me. I took the time to glance around the classroom as I closed the old, weathered book residing on my table. Every kid in the pristine room had diverted their attention to the only interesting thing to happen in this place all week.
I looked up at the ridiculously proportioned face of my teacher (don't tell her I said that) and asked, "What do you mean, Miss Cozart?" I gave her my most angelic smile but from the look on her face it leaned more towards mischievous than angelic. I'd have to ask someone to give me lessons on that. My persuasion skills are terrible.
"Don't play dumb with me, child," the woman spoke as she pointed to the book I had curled up in my hands. I hated being called a child, I'm way beyond that now. I forced myself to keep my mouth shut about it as she talked again, "What is the explanation for this?"
I followed her bony finger down to the book at my chest. I was surprised she hadn't cracked like she normally does. "Oh this..." I mumbled with a small sigh, "It's just a hand-me-down from a relative of mine. It's nothing important, Miss."
Her pale hand reached out and took it from me before I could even think about reacting. I swear she'd used some ninja move or something. Before I knew it she began to read from the first page, "The awe-inspiring, wonderful and powerful world of Pokemon? My goodness, girl, what rubbish!" She practically recoiled from the object as if it were a disgusting Grimer that had somehow wormed its way into her hand, "What poisonous thoughts has it put into your head, child?!" There she goes, calling me a kid again. I was thankful that I had more common sense than to speak up about it.
Instead I said, "I've hardly read any of it," I lied, "I only found it yesterday." Again I used my lame smile like it was gonna get me out've this situation I'd so easily stumbled into. In truth I'd had this book for as long as I could remember, much before I left my parents' four years ago. I'd read it too many times to count.
She gave me a look saying 'good' and turned it over to looked at its faded cover. There were no remaining pictures, just a faint title 'Pokemon of the Kanto Region: A field Guide'. The creator's name was at the bottom but the only salvageable word was 'Professor'. I would have loved to have met this guy, he knew so much about Pokemon. Not that I'd learn anything about them in here, behind these white walls.
