I never really liked fairy tales.
Not even as a kid.
They always seemed unreal and impractical, and for a practical and somewhat cynical girl like me it was infuriating.
Even the original ones from the Grimm brothers, before Disney came along and dumped glitter all over everything, were a bit too much. Too many coincidences, too many forced reactions and a whole a lot of magic. They were a bit splatter, yes, but it wasn't doing anything to me.
Now, you may ask 'why read them, then?' and you'll be right but it wasn't much of a choice.
It started with my mother reading to us when we were little. She loved reading to us and we loved to listen to her. It was the one thing we did every night, together.
And when she was gone that burden fell on my shoulders. It was the one thing that seemed to calm my siblings. And how could it not? When we lost mom Silia was merely three years old. Of course she wanted to listen to all those stories about fairies and princesses and the handsome princes with shining armors.
But even for the boys it created a sense of security. When everything around them kept changing and changing for the worst, their only constant was the bedtime stories I would read to them. It was the one thing that didn't change even with her absence.
As the years passed and I kept on reading the same stories over and over again I came to a conclusion.
They weren't just stories to entertain children. They were so much more than that. They were molding lives, creating a pattern to fit their standards and the consequences followed throughout one's life.
They weren't just fairy tales.
They were syndromes.A/N: Hello and welcome!! Aww, you guys I missed you so much, I've missed writing. I'm so glad that my muse hit my door once a again lending me some of her magic to create this story.
