Mr Fernsby sat in a rather large leather chair (which made him look skinnier and sallower than usual, if that was possible), staring out onto the perfectly normal street called Privet Drive. It was perfectly normal, not because nothing unusual ever happened - for something highly strange was about to take place- but because it's occupants refused to acknowledge anything out of the ordinary.
However, on this particular day their hopes would be crushed.
Mr Craig Fernsby and his wife Delilah Fernsby were two of the most normal folk you could probably ever find, along with there friends, Petunia and Vernon Dursley. Both young families had one young child , Clarisse Fernsby and Dudley Dursley, who they were aiming to raise as two more of the most normal folk available. Both, however, on this bright sunny day would be receiving a surprise addition to their family...someone who was not perfectly normal, in fact the two newcomers were the completely the opposite.
But Mr Fernsby didn't know anything of the events that the day would bring. No, all that was on his mind was cars - specifically the customers who would buy those cars and pay HIM a considerable amount of money for them.
He got up from his comfortable position and greeted his 1 year old daughter, Clarisse, as she bawled loudly for more chocolate. He then shouted to his wife, Delilah, "I'm leaving for work! Goodbye!"
"Goodbye darling!" She responded, her double chin wobbling like jelly and her eyes crinkling unattractively. With that, he opened the door, stepped outside with his stick-like legs and embraced the fresh air. As he was walking to the car, he saw an owl swoop overhead, actually, as he soon realised, there were 3! It was unusual to catch even a glimpse of an owl in Little Whinging in the night, let alone during the day! And unusual was something that Mr Fernsby highly disliked.
However, he chose to ignore this and set his mind to thinking about all of the money he would be make today. So, he stepped into the car, started it up and drove down Privet Drive. He took a left and saw Mr Dursley looking rather befuddled and, if he was not mistaken slightly angry, as he entered Grunnings, the business he owned. Maybe he has seen the strange bringings of the day, Mr Fernsby pondered, before hastily remembering that he was trying to forget what had happened earlier in the morning.
He took another left only to be engulfed in a sea of traffic. He banged his head on the steering wheel in frustration. This day was not going to plan already, and it had hardly started!
This sudden stopping allowed him to realise another abnormal thing that was happening right before his eyes! There were people!
Yes, yes, I know what you are thinking:
'How are people strange?!'
But these people weren't normal, at least not to Mr Fernsby. They were all wearing billowing cloaks which dragged on right down to the floor, paired with strange, tall pointed hats. They were all huddled together chatting discretely and awkwardly.
These people as whole just made Mr Fernsby's eyes bulge out unnaturally.
'What are they thinking?!?!?!' he muttered angrily to himself.
Then came the worst.
He leaned towards them out of his car window, for he was a nosy little fool, to see what was so important that they had to infuriate him with their abnormality.
And what he heard made him sit back in his seat, face drawn tight and pale.
'Yes, I heard that too. It's so sad that Rose Black had to die, but at least her daughter Savannah survived!'
'Yes and the Dark Lord has gone! It is a pity though that Savannah's father Sirius turned to murdering. He was such a good boy when he was at Hog-'
Mr Fernsby sat back. His sister? Rose Black? Dead? Though he disliked, hated even, strange things and people like his sister, he still loved her. No one could know that though.
'Maybe,' he thought, a spark of hope igniting inside him, 'Maybe it's a different Rose Black!'
But inside him he knew it wasn't.
Then, the traffic moved on. He locked up his emotions and drove to work, as though nothing had ever happened.
