Your nephew, Brandon, was walking down the stairs with his mom, which is your cousin. He was fooling around while coming down.

"Brandon don't play around on the stairs, you can fall." his mom said.

He didn't listen. Half-way down he tripped and was about to fall before your quick reflexes ran to him and caught him. Thank god you nor him fell. Everyone was relieved but not for you, for Brandon. Everyone cared more about Brandon than you. He's still young and has his life ahead of him. But you were still young with a life ahead of you too. But they didn't care, even though they are your family. Three other family memeber  did care and worry about you but you didn't notice that.

"Brandon, don't play around on the stairs, okay?" You told him. He nodded.

You put him back down onto the stair case. He went to his mother. You quickly ran to the restroom to throw up. You ate something your body doesn't like. Shrimp. After throwing up 2-3 times, you heard someone trying to come in.

"Mirae?" Steve called.

"Open the door, Mirae." Steve called again.

"Are you okay?" Steve asked, still trying to unlock the restroom door. You didn't respond.

"Uncle, do you have the keys to open this door?" Steve asked. Your uncle grabbed the keys and opened the door for him blankly. Steve ran in and looked at you concerned. You didn't believe that your cousin, Steve, would care about you. No one wanted to talk to you. No one wanted to hang out with you. But he was the only one who rushed in to help you. You wanted to believe that but you can't. He helped you clean up. He brought you to his parents room.

He sat on the bed. "Come" he said. So you walked over slowly. He suddenly grabbed you and placed you on his lap.

"This is weird. This is not appropriate. We're—" you got cut off.

"I know. We are not really cousins though. Not by blood. So technically, I'm still allowed to date you or anyone." Steve explained.

"But even if you aren't my cousin, does your parents approve of this (him liking you, and acting this way)?" You asked.

"Yes, they do."

You nodded. You were kind of happy that you knew someone cares and loves you.

"So, are you happy that you can finally trust someone?" Steve asked.

"What do you mean?"

"I have a friend, Daniel. You know him too, right??" Steve said.

"Daniel Smith?"

"Yea, him. I was curious of what's going on your mind and I was worried about you. So I asked him about you." Steve said.

"How do you know him too? How do you know he knows me?"

"I met him the last time I came down here to visit the family. He was mumbling something about you." Steve said.

"Ok..."

"I need you to know something. I like you, Mirae. More than family. More than friends. I want to be a thing with you." Steve said.

"..." you couldn't respond back to him.

"I know, you can't trust anyone besides Daniel but I'll prove it to you that you can trust me too. I'll prove that I truly love you. I'll prove everything and anything that you can rely on me." Steve said.

"Ok." Was all you could say. You weren't sure whether to really trust him or not.

"You still don't believe me? .." a call interrupted Steve. I picked up. It was Daniel. He explained why I should trust Steve. He explained everything.  (Author-nim: I'm too lazy to go into details for that. Sorry 😅)

You trusted him. You started developing feelings for Steve. He moved jobs from Texas to LA for you. You were happy about that. It shows that he care about you. Your stress from any kind of problems in your life was healing.
