I was foolish for letting you leave me. You said that you were off to find yourself, to work, in order to come back to me better than you were before. Truth is, you were perfect as you were. There's nothing I would've changed about you, or us. I don't see what it is you hated so much about yourself, but I wish I did. That way, I could have shown you that there was never anything to hate at all.
But it's too late now. Years have gone by, and I'm still catching myself gazing mindlessly out the window in hopes that I will see you staggering up the steps once again. The thought of you around me haunts my most peaceful slumbers and makes me lose track of what I am doing during the day. You had told me that you were off to find "where the stars meet the sea," whatever that meant. I know how much you wanted a place where you could finally be free from yourself, free from everyone. Even when I pleaded to go with you, you insisted that this personal journey you were pursuing would be for nothing but the best.
It's been a while though, and you could be dead, for all I know. However, I know that I will never stop pursuing you. Your memory will never stop giving me hope, and there is always a place for you with me. One day, I'll come find you where the stars meet the sea. We will be together again, make no mistake.
