New parnter, Old partner tango

“There is no way I am working with a dog” Rob had very clearly lost his marbles. We walked through the station into our main case room. A black German Shepherd met me. An eye for an eye in the police career you need to be able to trust your partner and with Cain barking and growling at me the way he was it was unpredictable. Jess was working on his laptop and Cain trusted him more kept tapping him on the lap but growing whenever I come near. “This is gonna be useless” I put my hand on Jesse’s chair and Cain starts barking at me “why are we stuck with him” Cain barks at me “trust me I’m just as happy with the partnership as you”  I stroke his back as we look at the picture of the dead body this time he lets he me and doesn’t bite me “Tyler, assassinated between 7-10 pm last night Cain’s handler”
“Robber? His room was a mess” Lola our forensic experts “We were luck most of the time if we got him into bed before 2 am most nights” Rob says “cop who knew too much” Cain perks up at that and goes sits on the window sill “I miss seeing him there” Rob says absentmindedly not paying attention “why hasn’t he been there” Rob goes silent

We all head to the FBI side of our headquarters “Tyler Mills got shot this morning at 3 am by a .22 calibre pistol at point black range as you all know this is the calibre gun we use as our force, being first on the scene we assumed it was suicide Cain indications showed a sent that didn’t belong to Dect. Mills or his son scents Cain would be familiar with.” The brief was cut off by a phone call and we were left alone “Lola, Felix head out to the scene see what’s there” as we got our instructions we noticed Jess was crying, Cain immediately went and put a paw on his lap, he scratched his head, but rubbed his eyes when he saw us “have we got our task” Jess says “yeah, we are going to the house.

When we walked into the house Jess went straight to the laptop almost like he knew the house off by heart and I think maybe did and I think Lola thought he did too Cain walked around for a bit. I want it checked so I still give it to Jess but I call Lola over just in case something happens Cain comes and sits as well interested in a USB drive I grab it and plug it into Jesse’s laptop not sure what I would find but it was empty other than one big document “dear Rob” the name of the document says but it was over a decade old and it was just his will it said Jess was 7 probably made the same time the death of the other detective and that Jesse shouldn’t go to his mom doesn’t say why but he would go to Chase (I’m guessing the first name of our superintendent) or Joe before Jess could translate Cain starts barking at the superintendent but that makes no sense he’s supposed to be tracking Tyler’s... Murderer... Oh shit. “He is the last person who knows were the proof is I’m sorry but I can’t let Mini Mills escape but I guess now so do you so I can’t let either of you go” then the. 22 calibre pistol comes out.
