Letter to the ocean

Magnificent ocean,

I am scared of you.

I am scared of knowing, somewhere on earth, I could sink that deep.

I am scared of what you hide in those depths. I am scared of the creatures, big, small, known, unknown.

I am scared of the things you could destroy. Your rage.

Your magnificent power.

At the same time, I admire it. I admire you.

I love you for your unknown depths, your creatures, your rage. You make me feel so comforted when I, too, am raged. When we share it, I feel understood.

I love your being. I love that you are here, alive, moving, caring. I love to walk along or through you, as long as I don't have to go too deep.

Because I am still scared.

Maybe that is a good thing. Some things on this earth were made to be feared.

I think you are such a thing. Magnificent, and to be feared.

I hope to see you soon.

All my love.
