Junjou Regard Vol.2

It's A Gift

Haruhiko placed the keys in the ignition and turns them quickly. It makes his hand sweaty, for some reason. Todo sits in the passenger seat, almost dying of the anticipation. He slips his laces his hands together.

Haruhiko didn't know what to say. He had a plan for when they stopped, but he had not known what he would say in the car.  It was strange. The conversation always seemed to stall with them. Even though Haruhiko had known he fallen for Todo, he had no idea what to talk to him about.

Family? School? Work? Plans for the future? Maybe they could just talk about their day. That sounded safe enough to Haruhiko. Just as he was about to speak Todo cut into his thoughts.

"How's work lately? I heard you designed the architecture for that new spa that opened up near Mariamo Books." He looked through the front window.

"O..Oh yeah. It was a pretty cool project, the sauna was the best part to design. You have to think about wood types and the sorts of ventilation you want. It was super fun." Haruhiko realized he really liked sharing his passion, and Todo seemed to like it as well. This thought made him a little flustered.

"How is your Police Officer thing going?" Haruhiko looked back at the road.

"I've been practicing my shooting skills and my kendou is still amazing. It's been tough, but I'm really enjoying it." Todo spoke in a happy tone, and when Haruhiko saw him smiling like that he couldn't help but feel the same happiness. He smiles lightly, a warm feeling building in his chest.

Haruhiko stops the car, and slowly gets out. He pulls a bag from the back of the car. Todo looks at where they are. A forest? Trees line the path in front of them. It's so beautiful.

"Come with me." Haruhiko ventures on a small path into the forest. Todo follows him. Haruhiko extends his free hand. "You could trip, take my hand." Todo hesitates, but only for a second and then he grips Haruhiko's hand. It takes them a few minutes to find a small clearing. A little pond is to the side. Haruhiko holds the bag out to Todo.

"This is for you. I-I saw it and I couldn't help but think.. You'd look great in it.." Haruhiko presses the bag into Todo's arms. "I am sorry for being so sudden with this but.. I want to see you in it." Todo takes a hold of the bag and unzips the front. He reveals an astonishing blue-grey suit. Todo's heart thumps in his chest. 

"What is.. This?" His breath leaves his lungs.

"It's a gift."
