Chapter 1

"With the above evidence shown in this court, the defendant, Rono Mendes is shown to be guilty of his series of murders and I hope he can be sentenced to death. Your honor, I am done with my side." I poised.

Hello everyone, I am Skylar Grey, a well-known criminal lawyer that has won many challenging cases in the United States. Today is not going to be an exception for me as well. 

The judge nodded, signifying that he understood my statement and turned his attention to Carlston Solavent, the criminologist involved in this case. 

Carlston Solavent, at first I thought he was a rookie, but I never knew he had such amazing capabilities and charisma. 

"Mr Solavent, has the defendant passed the competency screening test?" 

"Yes, my honor, he is competent to stand trial." Carlson said. 

The judge then turned his attention back to the criminal. 

"Mr Mendes, I would need you to wait outside the court while we gather a verdict. The time now is 15 20 hours, prison officers please." 

About twenty-five minutes of waiting time passed, the defendant was then asked to come back in to the court room. 

"At this time of 15 45 hours, together with the panel, we have received all the documents and gathered a verdict of the following charges. As certified by Mr Solavent, he displayed characteristics of a psychopath and used his manipulations to cult all his nine victims. He even convinced his accomplices to murder the victims. Hence, if we released him into the society, he will be posed as a threat. These inclusions were drawn from the statement of facts from the defendent, attorneys, criminology and witnesses. I hereby pronounced the defendant, Rona Mendes, to be sentenced to death for his crimes. "

Yes, another case won! I looked at my colleague, Kalen who is sitting beside me, he gave me a smile and thumbs up. 

"Skylar Grey as usual, never loosing any case. Let's go back to the law firm after this and all of us head out for a celebration!" 

I looked at him and smiled. 

After the judge dismissed the court, I walked towards Carlston who was busy packing all his files and documents. He noticed me approaching and I smiled. He didn't. 

"Hi, Carlston Solavent right? Nice to meet you, I'm Skylar Grey." I extended my hand towards him, anticipating for an exchange of handshake. Instead, he disappoint my anticipation by giving me a glance and walked away. 

Damn it... how rude! 

I turned back instantly and was about to shout at him until he stopped his footsteps and looked at me once more. The look and his blue eyes, almost took my breath away.

"The famous lawyer, Skylar Grey. I do know you, so there is no need for you to introduce yourself to me. However, I think that you do not know me, but is okay, we will have a lot of opportunities to work together in the future. See you when I see you." He waved at me and walked out of the court room. I was instantly left stunned.

"Skylar, Skylar, Skylar Grey!" Kalen shouted at me and brought me back to my current surroundings. 

"Are you okay? Did you just conquered talking to the devil Solavent?" Kalen laughed but this left me more puzzled, looking at him. 

What? Devil Solavent? 

"Don't tell me you do not know who he is?" Kalen point towards the empty door where Carlston just left. 

I blinked. "Isn't he a rookie criminologist?"

Upon hearing what I replied, Kalen facepalmed himself. 

What? 

"My dear lawyer Skylar Grey, how is Carlston Solavent a rookie? Ok, well maybe he just joined the criminal industry for only two years," Kalen counted with his fingers and continued, "but he has the same standard as you! He can fix any criminals and is certainly well known for his cool and fierce demeanor. He never make friends with anyone!" 

Never make friends with anyone... is he that proud? Well, I am starting to be more curious about him. We shall see, I will meet you again, Carlston Solavent.
