I awoke the next morning to soft blowing against my face. Gently I opened my eyes, only to be met with a shimmering brown set just inches away.
“Hey,” I whispered, stretching slightly.
Our legs were tangled together, his hand was still curled around my waist, and our heads were sharing a single pillow.
“Hey back. Happy Christmas Eve.”
I smiled at him, debating if I should kiss him. It didn’t take him two beats though; quickly he leant in and pressed a soft kiss against the side of my mouth.
“We’ve got a lot to do today if we’re going to make it in home in time for Christmas Eve festivities.”
“Oh yeah,” I yawned, “Just ten more minutes in bed?”
Aston grinned, kissing my nose as he lay next to me, his fingers tracing my skin lazily.
“Did you mean what you said last night?” he whispered.
“What?”
“That you love me too.”
I smiled, my fingers tracing his jawline slowly, “Yeah I did mean it.”
“Even after everything you said the other night?”
“Ast I love you, the real you. I guess I’m just having a hard time adjusting to the fact that you’ve grown up and become this huge sensation. But I remembered last night when you were being so sweet and perfect with me that there’s a lot there, and it hasn’t gone away. You were you, the Aston I’ve know forever.”
“I’m always me,” he replied.
“I know, I guess it’s just going to take time to get used to how you’ve changed. Pretty much whenever I see you, you’re trying to not be Aston from JLS… Just Aston from Peterborough.”
“I guess you’re right. I don’t want to seem like two different people,” he replied.
“You aren’t, not really.”
“Are you willing to give me a chance though? I know you said…”
“I was sort of mad when I said those things,” I smiled, tracing his jawline again.
“I’m sorry.”
“I know.”
“So…”
“I’ll give you a chance,” I smiled, leaning in and pressing a quick kiss against his lips. He wrapped his arms tighter around me and kissed me back, a breath of relief leaving his lips as his eyes stared into mine again.
My phone started buzzing after that, my family calling to see where I was. I was the bearer of the One Direction tickets after all… it would be a Christmas disaster if Santa didn’t deliver them!
After an hour of making calls, my car was towed out of the ditch and declared dead by the mechanic. Just about every little piece in it had spluttered out in the snow and it was going to cost more to revive it than to purchase a new car.
“Maybe I’ll finally get Dad’s car,” I muttered as I signed the papers to scrap my car.
“I guess you’re stuck with me,” Aston grinned, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind.
“Damn!”
We drove back to Peterborough and he dropped me off at my house, making sure to help me carry my things up to the front door.
“Jess!” he called as I was about to shut the front door.
“What?”
I watched him jog back up my front walk, pulling the door shut so we were stood together on the front porch.
“What’s going on?”
“I just wanted to do this one more time,” he replied, kissing me softly.
“There isn’t any mistletoe though.”
“And you call me the tease.”
I grinned at him, pulling him in for another kiss before letting him go.
“Can I drive you to Christmas Kebabs tomorrow night?” he asked.
“Isn’t it out of your way? Its literally a ten second walk to Natalie and Kyle’s.”
“I want to drive you.”
“Ok,” I nodded, “I’ll give you your gift then.”
“Me too!”
“Merry Christmas Ast.”
“Merry Christmas to you too Jessie.”
