Suprise, an unexpected or astonishing event, fact, etc.

Aletta ordered Steve to wash himself under the boiling water and shave, not forgetting to add that he of course looked good with the beard, but also looked like he had a wife and 4 children at home, which she smiled sadly at. The captain didn't notice the slight sadness in her eyes, he was too blinded by her beauty. He didn't understand how suddenly he could be so full of life after all that had happened. He still didn't understand why Letta wasn't mad at him. If he was in her place, he would kill himself in a million different ways.

When Steve entered his room half an hour later, he couldn't believe his eyes. Fresh air flowed through the open windows into the room, and the first rays of sunlight fell on the parquet. With Aletta, time went by faster for him, even though he was still blaming himself for the accident with his shield. All his clothes were thrown in the corner of the room, the papers lying around were pressed into a bin, empty glasses and bottles of alcohol disappeared, and his bed was perfectly made.

"Um, don't you wanna get dressed?" Letta stared at his naked chest, which was still sparkling from the water, and she had to bite her lip over the view. She glanced over his muscular hands, which held a towel in his waist, so it wouldn't fall, and then she wondered in her mind where he might have come to those perfect calves, and finally returned to his face that glowed with amusement, and Aletta realized what Rogers had smirked at and her cheeks flooded with hotness.

Annoyed that Steve caught her checking him out, she got up and walked over to his closet, which was now half-empty at the moment because most of his clothes stank or were drizzled with alcohol, so they were in a pile to wash. Steve watched her quietly search through his closet and thought of them as a couple. It made him smile, it was a sympathetic idea. But at the same time, it killed him, because even if Letta wanted to be his, he couldn't be with her. He doesn't want to hurt her anymore. Never. He will blame himself for her injury for the rest of his life, and if he accidentally forgets it, Tony will surely gladly remind him, even though the egoist Stark understood somewhere inside his soul that Steve wasn't the bad guy, and in a certain way, he felt sorry for him.

Aletta pulled him out of his stream of thoughts, slapping clean boxer shorts, socks, a plain white T-shirt, and looser gray sweatpants at his chest. As Steve went back to the bathroom to change, Letta noticed a cheerful smile on his face. He may have seemed happy, but Aletta knew better.

His lips may be smiling, but his eyes are full of pain and his soul is crying.

Everyone was in the kitchen that morning. No one seemed to be overflowing with happiness, but the forenoon sun gave them energy, and Natasha even laughed at one of the jokes Bruce made.

Tony was holding his favorite mug and leaning his back against the kitchen unit. He focused his gaze out of the window, looking at the rising city.

There was a sudden silence in the kitchen, and Tasha immediately stopped laughing when she saw who appeared at the door to the kitchen. To be sure, she pinched her hand, just in case, but when she realized it was a reality, she smiled happily. She smiled like she didn't in weeks, happily, honestly, and for a bit there were familiar sparks in her eyes that simply fitted the brave redhead. Bruce tore his eyes away from Steve, and when he saw the smile on his beloved's face, it made him smile. He liked when Natasha was happy.

Tony broke away his gaze from morning Manhattan, and when he saw Steve standing in the kitchen with an unreadable expression, his mug shattered on the floor and he opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something but couldn't find the words. So he pursed his lips again, and Letta had to chuckle at the gesture. Her brother now looked like a fish, and the huge circles under his eyes, which perhaps had their own circles under their circles, only made it funnier. Plus, it was one of the few moments when Tony Stark himself ran out of words and it was a rare sight.

Inside, Steve was anxious about the reactions of the others, but when he saw their expressions, he was happy that Letta had finally forced him out of the room when he locked himself in the bathroom at the last minute before coming out of the room and began to freak out that everyone hated him.

Except for Tony's reaction. He was still worried about that, and after Stark left the cup, he was terrified.
