(Fluff)
"You know, it's kinda cool you're finally trying to get into learning guitar, but I'm only going to let you borrow this for a couple weeks." Casey explained, tuning his bright red Ibanez Genesis guitar. You had been looking for a hobby for a while now and he had pitched guitar as an option. Seeing as you had already adored music as is, you decided it would be a good opportunity for yourself, especially as Casey was willing to let you borrow his guitar for a bit to let you get used to the very basics and to see if you enjoyed it at all.
"I still appreciate it though, I'll make sure it's kept safe and clean." You knew guitars could be rather expensive, and Casey held his rather close to him. So as his friend, you had to take care of it.
"I trust you, that's why I'm letting you take it in the first place." He secured the instrument into its case and handed it over to you. "There's also a capo, a few different picks and an electric tuner in the bag as well. Since it's electric it should be easier on your fingers since you won't have to press down so hard. But anyways, I need to head off to hockey practice or I'll be late. If you need help with anything you can call, text or just ask at school." He slung his bag over his shoulder, walking with you to the door until you both split into different directions. That night you spent just trying to familiarize yourself with the string notes and a few chords. Casey hadn't provided a speaker as you wouldn't need it, but he did say you were free to go over to his place and use it, and he would help teach you a bit as well.
The following day you had gone to school a bit early. It was a warm morning, so you sat outside on the bleachers of the football field, guitar in hand. You were practicing chords you had learned from a short tutorial video you had watched earlier. While you were busy with your head down, watching the guitar frets, someone had approached you, startling you when they commented on the guitar. Their voice caused a blush to rise to your cheeks, hoping that you had heard it wrong. You looked up and caught the eye of your crush, a girl by the name Karai whom you had deemed far out of your league. She was in a few of your classes and she had been since freshman year, though you never properly talked to her before, you were too intimidated to. As far as you knew, she wasn't necessarily a rebel, though she had the appearance of one. She was very bright and also quite funny. Just last year, you remembered, she had made a comment in world history that made you laugh a bit out loud. She had looked back at you with a charming grin that sealed your crush on her.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." She said with an apologetic smile, glancing down at the instrument in your lap.
"It's alright." You replied quietly with a nervous laugh, letting your eyes wander around anywhere but on her. She cleared her throat silently before she motioned to the guitar.
"I said your guitar looks cool." A deep blush of embarrassment spread over your face as you had completely spaced the first time she had said it.
"Oh, yeah. Er, thanks, I mean." You mentally face palmed, especially since you had credited the guitar as being yours in the first place. "But, actually" Karai stepped onto the bleachers and took a seat beside you, causing your mind to fall completely blank.
"I didn't know you could play." All you could do was nod, not completely processing what she had even said. You were more focused on trying to keep your red face hidden. "Think you could tutor me? I've always wanted to learn." She gave you that same charming smile that caused your heart to jump and your mouth answered before your mind understood her question.
"Sure." Immediately after, you mentally scolded yourself. You had just agreed on teaching your crush something you didn't even know anything about yet and you were absolutely going to make a fool of yourself. Her charming smile grew wider which made you sink a bit, trying to focus instead of internally gushing over how cute you thought she was.
"Really? Awesome!" She piped up in excitement, getting up from her seat as she glanced down at her phone screen. "Class starts in ten minutes so I'm gonna head inside, but are you maybe free after school?" You stuttered a bit before nodding.
"Yeah, yeah I'm free." She dropped down from the bleachers, readjusting her bag strap on her right shoulder.
"I'll meet you back here then. Oh and I like your hoodie as well." She commented with a smirk before heading off. Your skin grew hot again as you looked down at the pink Tom and Jerry hoodie you wore. Once she was gone, you let go of the breath you were unaware that you had been holding, mumbling over how stupid you felt. It was the first time you had ever properly talked to her and you had already made a foolish impression.
As you scrambled to put everything away, you worked on pushing down the blush that had engraved itself on your features. You shouldered your bag and took a hold of the guitar case, carrying it into the school and into your first class.
