We won.

They lost.

"Alright girls!" I shouted as we all congratulated each other.

"I can't believe we lost." Bertram mumbled

I walked over to the boys and smiled at them. "Looks like you're stuck with us now." I looked at Benny.

"Good job Shortie." He said smirking at me

I blushed at his words and crossed my arms. "I am not short!" I said stubbornly

"Yeah you are." He said and the rest of the boys backed away

"No!" I countered

"Yes." He said not giving in and stepping up to me bending down so we were eye to eye.

Our faces were inches apart and I blushed at him as I said "No I'm not. You are just a giraffe!" I said trying to win back dominance over the argument.

"Oh a giraffe? Well it doesn't matter what animal I am as long as you know you're short. Shortie." He said leaning in even more so much that for the first time in my live I backed up a little.

"W-whatever!" I stuttered

"You all like each other!" Niki yelled

"No we don't!" Me and Benny said defensively

"Yeah-yeah you do!" Yeah-yeah said

"Come on we gotta get home girls the streetlights are on!" I said turning towards the dugout to grab my things

"Fine, but you won't be able to hide it forever!" Loran sang, her and Niki skipping up on either side of me and bumping their hips into mine.

We got to the dugouts and since all the girls only had their gloves and bats they finished packing quickly and left, Daniela waited for me but I just said, "I'll be a minute more you can go on ahead!"

"You sure?" She asked

"Yeah! I'll just walk back with one of our new teammates!" I shouted loud enough for them to hear.

In return a few of them grumbled. "Okay!" Daniela said

I finished packing and walked over to the boys dugout. "Are you all not gonna leave?" I asked

"We wanted to get a game of our own in." Ham said

"Why so this time you can win?" I smiled

"Yep!" Squints said smiling

"Can I watch then? My mom doesn't want me to walk anywhere alone so I wanted to walk back with one of y'all." I asked

"Sure." They said

I think we're gonna be good friends I thought. I watched them play a couple rounds and I was practically drooling over Benny.

The way his shoulder muscles moved, the way his legs twisted as he batted, and don't forget the way his face shines with determination when he's batting.

"So are you gonna stare at him all day or are you gonna tell him you like him?" A voice said beside me.

I jumped and spun around to see Yeah-yeah looking at me. "I do not like him!" I whisper yelled at him

"Yeah-yeah you do. And he likes you too he just won't admit it either." He said

"Wait what?" I asked

"He likes you too." He said shrugging his shoulders and the rest of the boys walked into the dugout.

"You said you needed someone to walk you home right?" Someone said behind me

I turned and saw Benny. "Yeah." I said smiling at him

"I'll walk you home." He offered.

"Sure! Thank you!" I said and I walked out of the dugout and waited for him.
