"He loves her. He has a certain look on his face after he goes to check on her. He doesn't know that I know about the secret check ins and I don't even think she knows about the secret check ins. When I look at him, all that comes to mind is 'I can't want for a man to love me how he loves her'. And it is sad because I am with him. That is my man, he is supposed to love me. But, she will always have his heart. I don't want to address it because he treats me so well. He treats me like he'd treat someone he loves deeply, but I'm not the one that he loves."
-Jasmine Rayne"These men need someone who will actually care about them, listen to them, pray for them, and really be there for them. They are grown and they feel and know when people are not being genuine. Hire people who want to love on them Chief"
"Love is not my problem here Camellia. My job is to keep them safe, and that is what I do. If you want to start a love club, this is not the place."
I groaned in frustration and walked out. Nobody in this place understands the pain that these men go through. The problems they have to deal with, both inside here and on the outside. The workers in here lack compassion, empathy, and basic love. Why work somewhere where bettering and nurturing the people is your first priority, when you don't even have the basic necessities or compassion to comfort them.
"You okay Ms. Hall?" An inmate asked. I nodded my head and continued on my way to my office.
When I got to my office I sat in my chair, put my head down, and started to cry. I couldn't take the sight of how they treated people in here. They treated them as if they are animals.
"You gone do something about it?"
My head flew up in shock and fear, and I followed the voice.
"Dametrius ." I said exhaling and running my hands through my head.
"Mechi, what are you doing in here?" I asked.
"They told me it was okay for me to wait till you got back. You didn't think there was an officer across from your door for no reason, did you?" He replied with a grin.
"What do you want?" I said irritated while running my fingers through my head.
"I want you to fix it. Start your own business for people who are fresh out or about to go up. That way you can love on them without limits the way you want to. Without the guidelines and rules that hold you back from doing what you truly want to do for them." He said. He had me thinking, thinking it was a good idea and I'd actually be able to pull it off. Maybe I could, not by myself probably, but I could.
"I'll think about it. What did you come here for?" I asked.
He cleared his throat before speaking.
"I know you are about to leave, but I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate everything you've done for me. I just wanted to stay in contact with you and maybe when I get out we can go out sometime." He said. I smiled a bit but tried my hardest to hide it.
"I'll think about it." I said with a smile before he dismissed himself.
- Camellia Hall
"You made me think that you loved me and some how I really tricked myself into thinking you really did. All that talk was just because you needed someone. You needed company. Someone who would be there for you and you know I would. And now you do-"
"Came.. listen."
"No, you listen. I waited for you. I was there for you. I listened to you, read and kept every letter. I was everything you asked me to be and more. And not just because I wanted to be your girlfriend but because we were friends Dametrius. We were-"
