School ended for the day, and Ariana was walking home by herself since her brothers had band practice, and Mei had a student council meeting. “I can’t believe they found out, but at least they didn’t ask further than that.” Ariana said to herself. She saw the back of someone who looked familiar. Curious, she followed the person. “He’s walking in the direction of my house…” Ariana thought.
She turned at a corner and saw the person she was following standing in front of her house. “It couldn’t be… He was…” Ariana said and lowered her eyes. The person turned their head a little to where she could see their face better. Her eyes widen. “No way… It’s…” Ariana said. Subconsciously, she was walking towards the person. The person heard footsteps, and turned their head to the sound. She stopped and stared. “M-Meguru…” Ariana said. “Ariana…” Meguru said. She gasped. “Meguru!” Ariana said running up to him. She lunged at him to give him a tight embrace. “Oh!” Meguru said and hugged her back. “Meguru… How? I thought you…” Ariana said. “It was tough to talk out of it, but I succeeded.” Meguru said. “How did you do that?” Ariana asked. “I promised the Demon king… My dad, that in exchange for my termination, I would train really hard to awaken my ability.” Meguru said. “That’s all it took?” Ariana asked. “That… And my mother was convicted since she tried to take over with her own power.” Meguru said. “Oh… I’m so sorry…” Ariana said. “Don’t be. I want to become stronger so that I can be a worthy man for you and protect you.” Meguru said. “Meguru…” Ariana said. “So that’s why I came to see you before I go back to Demon Realm for my training.” Meguru said. “Oh… Thank you. How long will it take?” Ariana asked. “I’m not sure, but I’ll try to come back as soon as I can.” Meguru said. She smiled. “Alright, I just want to let you know that I believe in you.” Ariana said. “Ariana…” Meguru said. “Also, I have something I want to give to you for good luck.” Ariana said. She took off her pendent that’s was hidden in her shirt. “I want you to wear this for the time being. It’s from my late grandfather, and the symbol says ‘Treasure’. I want you to wear that to let you know that I’ll be there for you in spirit.” Ariana said. He received the pendant from her. “Ariana… Are you sure? I mean this is a memento for you.” Meguru said. “I know, and that’s why I want you to take it with you. See it as a part of me, and once you return, you can return it back.” Ariana said. He smiled. “Alright. I’ll keep this on me at all times. Thank you, Ariana.” Meguru said putting the pendant around his neck. “I trust you with it.” Ariana said. “I won’t let anything happen to it.” Meguru said. “I want to give you another thing.” Ariana said digging in her purse. “This is…” Meguru said. “I know you already read my story, but you can have your own copy. When you have nothing to do, you can read it.” Ariana said. “Thank you Ariana, I can’t wait to read it again.” Meguru said. He pulled her in closer and kissed her passionately.
Many months have passed, and it was close to graduation. She told Mei and her brothers that she has a boyfriend that’s away for camp. At home, her family was having dinner together. “When is this boyfriend of yours coming back?” Ryan asked. “He should be back any day now.” Ariana said. “How did you even meet him when he doesn’t have the same classes as you?” Robin asked. “Well... He said that when he first saw me, he liked me.” Ariana said. “Did you hear that, dear? Our Ariana finally has a boyfriend!” Mom said. “When he does come, I need to meet him.” Dad said. “Oh! Don’t scare our daughter! I just want to see what he looks like and how he’s like, is he handsome?” Mom asked. “You could say that…” Ariana said blushing. “I just want to see if this young man is good enough for you.” Dad said. “Of course he is. When he does come, I’ll ask if he can come over so that all of you can meet him.” Ariana said. “I’m so excited! If he can, tell me the day!” Mom said. “Ok, mom… Please calm down.” Ariana said. “I can’t help myself.” Mom said. “But I can’t just give our little girl to someone we don’t know yet. Until I meet him, you can’t call him your boyfriend.” Dad said. “That’s over the top, dad.” Ryan said. “It’s her first boyfriend, understand where our dad is coming from. Haven’t you heard of the father and daughter relationship?” Robin asked. “That the dad is overprotective of his daughter, and has the stereotypical shotgun if he doesn’t accept him?” Robin asked. “That’s over thinking things! Besides… Dad doesn’t even own a shotgun!” Ariana said. “I’ll get one.” Dad said. “No need!” Ariana said. “Hush, dear. I have a feeling that Ariana’s boyfriend will be a gentleman. Trust our daughter on who she dates.” Mom said. Dad sighed. “Fine, I’ll try to control myself.” Dad said. “Thank you dad, and I understand why you’re acting like this, but there’s nothing to worry about.” Ariana said. He smiled at her. “Alright, princess.” Dad said. “You know… We should get ourselves a girlfriend, don’t you agree, Robin?” Ryan asked. “We can’t force any girl to be with us, these kinds of things take time.” Robin said. “He’s right, you know.” Ariana said. “Oh, shut it!” Ryan said. “I’m looking forward to meeting your boyfriend.” Robin said. “Thank you, Robin.” Ariana said. “I guess I am too…” Ryan said. “Thanks Ryan.” Ariana said.
