(A/U: Komaeda works at a coffee shop while he’s also in college. Possible lemon in parts to come!~)
Nagito’s POV:
I woke up bright and early one Friday morning and walked from my dorm room to the coffee shop close to campus to begin my day of work.
Many of my mornings had always started out like this, quiet and peaceful. The only downside about everything always being this way, was that it was also very boring.
I’ve never had too many friends, and not many people choose to concern themselves with me. That was probably due to rumors and such originating from my highschool days.
I did however have two good friends, Chiaki Nanami and Hajime Hinata. They were dating. I often didn’t hang out with them though because I’d feel like a third wheel. Sometimes we would all play video games together since it was something we had in common.
I opened the door to the coffee shop and walked into the backroom. I began to put my belongings in my locker.
“Good Morning Komaeda!” I heard a voice say energetically.
It was my coworker Sonia Nevermind.
“Ah, Good Morning Sonia,” I said, tying an apron around my waist.
She smiled and continued to do her thing.

My shift finished around noon. I walked back to the locker room, taking off my apron and grabbing my things.
As I walked out to the seating area, I spotted Nanami and Hinata talking to a man with long dark hair, and eyes so red that you’d think it was blood. He seemed a little familiar...
Hinata saw me and waved, “Hey Komaeda, what’s up.”
“Hey,” I smiled, walking up to the table they were seated at.
“I didn’t know you were working today. Care to join us?” He offered.
I smiled and thought ‘why not’. From the looks of it, I’d be fourth wheeling this time anyways.“Sure,” I said and sat down.
We began to chat.
“So, what brings you two- er- three here?” I asked, referring to Hinata, Chiaki and the other guy I didn’t know.
“Oh yeah, I guess I forgot to mention!” Hinata stated.
“This is my half-brother Izuru Kamukura. He actually lives pretty close to campus and works as a detective for the police. He actually comes here quite often.” Hinata clarified, Kamakura nudging his head to agree.
That’s where I knew him from! I smiled warmly, “Nice to meet you Kamukura. I thought you looked familiar!”
He simply nodded and looked to the side. It seemed that his face was slightly red.
Maybe he’s shy…
We continued to talk for a while, but I couldn’t help but notice that Kamukura didn’t talk too often.
“By the way, I’ve been meaning to ask if I could borrow that new game you were telling me about Ko,” Nanami said.
“Sure, I can get it to you by tomorrow if you’d like,” I smiled and began to collect my things.
“But for now, I think I’m gonna go guys, I’ve got classes starting soon,” I said standing up.
Hinata stood up along with me, “before you do, do you think I could talk to you for a minute about something?”
I looked at him a little surprised, “Sure.”
We walked outside of the shop for a moment.
“Okay so look, you know how I said that Izuru comes here frequently?” Hinata asked.
I nodded.
“Well, between us, he totally has a crush on you. He’s been coming here non-stop after he mentioned a ‘white haired’ boy to me once. The only person that works here with white hair is you,” Hinata said in a quiet voice.
I blushed, not thinking that there was anyone who would actually like me. I repeatedly felt like a side character in most relationships, curious to understand how anyone might have found interest in me. I was absolutely boring, not to mention I had a streak of scaring people away with my ideals.
I usually think about what others want. So...maybe for once the world would allow me to be selfish and take this opportunity to...fall in love…?
I shook my head.
I was beginning to get ahead of myself.
“W-well, I mean….” I stuttered.
“I just wanted you to know. I know that a relationship would be good for the both of you right now. No pressure or anything though,” Hinata said.
“Thanks for thinking about me Hinata. I...I’ll think about it. He does seem kinda cute,” I giggled.
Hinata smiled, “Let’s go back in before they start to question what we’re doing.”
I nodded and we went back in.
As Hinata and Nanami got ready to leave, I went to the counter to grab a napkin. I wrote my name and number on it.
“We’ll see you around Komaeda,” Hinata said as the three began to walk to the door,
“A-ah wait!” I said.
They turned to look at me. Hinata must’ve gotten an idea of what I was doing because he grabbed Nanami and said, “Chiaki and I are gonna go ahead.”
He winked at me and they began to walk away.
Kamukura stood in front of me and I began to feel myself get nervous.
“S-sorry for holding you up. I just think you seem like a pretty cool guy and I see you around the shop a lot. Maybe we could be friends,” I said looking down slightly, holding up the napkin.
“I wrote my name and number on here. Let’s hangout sometime Kamukura-Kun,” I blushed, still very nervous.
I looked up to see him smiling. His face looked so pretty when he did, I thought my heart would pound out of my chest.
“I’d love to,” he said.
I looked up at him, happy that he replied yes.
I smiled, “That makes me so glad.”
I saw red cross his face.
Silence stood between us for a moment.
“Tomorrow…” He began, “Would you like to hang out with me tomorrow?”
I nodded, “sounds like fun!”
We agreed to text each other about the details and just like that, I was already captivated by a man I barely knew.
