In the morning when she woke up, she ended up just staring at the ceiling fan one again although she needed to get up, she just didn't have the will to. Mila, for the first time, didn't actually want to go to school today. But she knew she should go. 'Just a little more..' She thought to herself as she finally got up from her bed to go to her closet and change. Mila chose a blue sweatshirt and a pair of grey sweatpants like a typical normal day. She sighed as she dusted off her sweatshirt before grabbing her bag.

She walked out to her front yard and just stood there as the breeze flew through her hair and clothes. Like always, the bus was late again and she was left there just standing in the empty neighborhood. But eventually, the yellow bus came. The door slowly opened and she stepped in and beeped her card to show she was actually supposed to be on this bus and not some criminal or whatever.

She sat in her usual seat. The front row behind the driver, alone. Of course, she grabbed her headphones and started listening to her music, watching the scenery and trees go by once again.

Like yesterday, Mila tried not to think of anything, just tried to chill out and just listen to her music peacefully. But today's bus ride had gone by rather quickly.

It felt like only a couple of minutes before she arrived at the big gates of her middle school. As she got off her bus and felt the cold wind rush past her, someone ran up to her and stopped her.

"Hey! Mila!" She spun around surprised to see Trevor right in front of her. "Hello? Mila? Oh yeah, your probably still tired aren't you. Sorry haha!" He chuckled as he scratched his head, the moment becoming a little awkward.

Mila finally came to her senses and realized she just left him hanging. "Oh- Uhm, sorry still waking up... you know?" she smiled awkwardly.

"Anyways, let go into the school. I just wanted to say hello." Trevor smiled and started walking towards the school building.

After standing for a bit, Mila ended up slowly following. She was still surprised that Trevor hadn't given up this 'act' yet, just like anyone else who had asked her that question once. She brushed it off for now as they entered the school.

After they parted ways she started going deep into thought once again.

'Wouldn't be nice to have a friend? No, no. I'd pull them into all this trouble with the Elvin kingdom if we got too close... I can't.' Mila shook her head, it was hard for her to make friends with humans because of something that had happened a few years ago.

Thus, she vowed to never get too close to another human again. Especially a male.

Anyways, back to the present. The day was like any other, or so she thought. When Mila got to science class she realized that Trevor had sat next to where she sat.

'That's... unusual.' she sighed and walked to her seat, pulling out the chair and settling down as she looked up at the board where something was written. 'The person next to you will be your lab partner for today.' it read in the science teacher's normal old messy writing.

Mila glanced at Trevor thinking about how it would be working with him. He was looking down at his notebook, writing down notes for something but she couldn't quite see what it was exactly.

Suddenly the ring of a bell sounded and everyone looked up at the teacher. "Goodmorning everybody. As you can see on the board today we will be working in pairs to do a lab experiment." The teacher paused to clear his throat. "Please clear your desks of anything unnecessary except your notebooks and something to write with." He finished, turning around and walking to the table on the side of the classroom seemed to get all the supplies for each pair of students ready.

As the two cleared their desks Trevor glanced at Mila. it seemed like he wanted to talk or to say something but he stayed quiet, putting some stuff into the front pocket of his bag. "So... We're lab partners. Great, right?" Mila said, trying to sound enthusiastic at the least.

Trevor nodded as he sat back up after zipping up his bag. "Hey Mila, do you mind if I could sit with you and your friends during lunch?"

Mila was surprised and confused. First off, no one had ever asked to sit with her at lunch. Let alone a guy. They all just passed her lonely table to go talk to their friends. Second, had Trevor not noticed she was alone all the time? How could he think that she had friends when she was alone, every second of the school day. That might seem a bit harsh to say but it was true.

She looked up at him and hesitated for a second before nodding. The teacher put down a few supplies, beakers, and a set of instructions on their table before returning to the front of the room. "Alright, kiddos. Today you and your partners must follow the instructions on the paper instead of me telling you what to do. I'll be here if you need help." He chuckled, sitting back down at his desk as the pairs started fiddling with the paper and the supplies that were on their desks.

As Mila and Trevor started working on this experiment she was Trevor hadn't done anything stupid yet. It was unusual. He was acting weird.

Normally Trevor would be making jokes and making fun of people, and Mila. But today he wasn't. Maybe something happened, maybe something changed?

"Mila? Hellooooo? Are you gonna pour in the calcium chloride?" Trevor waved his hand in front of Mila's face.

She realized she had zoned out thinking about this. She apologized and started pouring the liquid in slowly. The solution started bubbling and overflowing and they watched writing down notes. Then, another guy, Liam, walked past and tipped the beaker over onto Mila's clothes. She jumped back, the solution soaking into her clothes. "Damnit."

She glared at Liam as he snickered walking back to his seat. Trevor looked at her with a sorrowful look as he went to grab some tissues. "Sorry. He's such a meanie sometimes."

He gave them to her, taking them she patted them on her lap trying to soak up the solution so she wouldn't stink the whole day because of Liam. "It's fine. It's not your fault."

Mila sighed as she sat back down looking at her finished notes. She looked at the time as she nudged Trevor. They started cleaning up their table and such and sat back down before the bell rang. "Alright, that's all for today guys. Remember to study for that test on Friday and have a good rest of your day." The teacher stood dismissing the students.
