Chapter 1 - Avenger Down

Y/N's POV

I had been an Avenger for as long as I could remember, which wasn't saying much ever since I had come to the compound my memories were fuzzy the only person, I truly knew was my older sister, Nat, she had taken me under her wing and made sure I got all the proper training trying to fully understand my powers seeing as Nat didn't have any I mainly trained with Wanda, spending so much time together we soon became friends, and I don't know what I would do without her here. When I first came to compound Wanda had only been here a couple weeks so we stuck together, and formed a bond that no one could break, we would spend countless hours training or watching movies, but I guess over time you could say that feelings were there but maybe just for me, I never really told her how I felt I didn't want to ruin our friendship because besides Nat she was the most important person to me.

It was a typical day at the compound, Tony and Bruce were in the lab and Steve was with Nat going over mission details, Peter usually did his own thing and Thor well he was usually raiding the kitchen, as usual me and Wanda were curled up on couch watching movies, but something was different about this day something I couldn't shake and with her constantly reading my thoughts I knew she would soon ask what was wrong.

"You ok?" the Sokovian asked with her accent, it made me melt every time I don't know why but it did, I gently nodded my head as she paused the movie, "no no talk to me y/n what is wrong?" she asked her voice was so soothing as she sat up turning around to face me, I softly smiled at her as she tried to study my face almost as if she was trying to read my emotions.

"I'm ok I promise just weird feeling I will be fine" my voice was soft as she tilted her head slightly but before she could say another word Tony called us to the briefing room as we both got up from the comfort of our safe space and headed to briefing room. I zoned out for most of what Tony had said before I felt a soft touch over my hand as I finally got out of my head noticing Wanda had placed her hand on mine. After what felt like forever, we headed to the equipment room as we all suited up before piling into the jet.

The ride on the jet had been quite to say the least, I knew the fight we were heading into wasn't going to be easy it was going to be a battle that maybe none of us were prepared for, Thanos had been ripping apart every defense we had but with Cap leading us into battle maybe we had a chance. I looked over at Wanda as she was playing with little red wisps that danced along her fingers, she was nervous we all were, but I titled my head to watch her gently placing my hand on hers,

"Hey, you ok?" my voice was trying to be comforting the best it could be her eyes met mine and then I was lost, the truth was I had fallen in love with her a long time ago; she was my best friend and in my eyes she was perfect. I had never told her I loved her it was never the right time and now definitely wasn't either.

"I am just focused" her voice was soft, but the accent still found its way to stand out, her voice was always so soothing to me I wonder if she could tell I was blushing. I nodded at her as I shot her a gentle smile before the jet landed, Thanos was already waiting for us, as we stood there preparing for battle my heart pounding as a familiar touch squeezed my trembling hand.

"You asked if I was ok, question is, are you?" the sarcasm in her voice along with the thickness of her accent made my worries wash away as I smiled nodding effortlessly "just focused" I shot her a wink as the fight had begun. Small battles had broken out and all of us were separated, holding our own but my powers were still a little weaker than most of the others, I could throw light surges and balls of electric, but I was still learning, I never knew my full strength or what I was fully capable of but with Wanda beside me I felt like I was the most powerful person she just had that effect on me.

Wanda's POV

"Anyone have eyes on y/n" my voice panicked because I knew this was a big fight and I also knew how strong y/n was, but we hadn't trained together that long and with a fight this big it was easy to get overwhelmed but nonetheless I always worried about y/n they were my best friend and at end of the day my person, the person I had grown attached to in so many ways. Just like that a purple ball of electric landed not far from me as they send enemies flying. "I'm right here love I wouldn't miss this" the confidence radiating on their words as we continued to fight, I had my eyes on Thanos as I landed in front of him forcing all my energy against his, but he was stronger than I was, my whole body shaking from trying to hold him off but I knew I couldn't give in I tried to focus my energy as I picked up anything near by as hit after hit landed on him just enough to anger him with all my strength meeting his, I knew my strength wasn't enough to beat him.

Y/N's POV

I could see Wanda struggling out the corner of my eye, "y/n a little help" her voice shaky as she tried to hold the red wisps that were clashing against Thanos, as soon as she needed help I flew above the fight sending down three power surges as they rained down on Thanos, "I'm on it love" I came back around throwing energy surges towards him as he staggered back and with both mine and Wanda's powers together we could beat him I glanced at her as her eyes went from red to normal as my head titled slightly before feeling the cold metal inside of me. My hearing was muffled as Clint yelled for me to watch out, but it was too late, I felt the metal ripping inside of me as I glanced down to see the blade piercing through my skin with such ease. I locked eyes with Wanda as she sent a huge red surge through the field knocking every enemy down, I stood there in front of her for a minute before staggering forward finally falling to my knees as I collapsed, I could hear her yelling my name as she ran over to me.

"Just look at me ok?" Just focus on me" her voice was soft as I kept my eyes on her I could still hear the comms playing in background as I tried to focus on Wanda, tears were filling her eyes as she placed my head on her lap.

"Wanda? Y/n? Someone copy!" Does anyone have eyes on y/n or Wanda" Tony's voice seemed worried as I laid in Wanda's arms my eyes getting heavier, she placed her hand over the wound, but it was too severe for her to heal, I started to hear footsteps as I glanced over at Cap and Tony as my eyes went shut as Wanda gently brushing her hand over my face trying to wake me up.

"Y/n stay with me ok? Please you can't leave me I love you please..." those words echoed through my ears igniting my heart as I tried to hold on.

"Fire up the jet, and let Banner know we have incoming y/n is hurt bad" Tony barked into comms as Cap and Thor loaded me into the jet with Wanda still holding my hand, praying she wouldn't let go.

"Tony I am going with them; I'm not leaving them not now..." her accent was thicker than normal I knew she was scared but I could also tell she was crying. Tony sighed as he debated his options for a minute before Strange interrupted "hate to cut this short but we got incoming" his voice stern as Tony walked off jet before stopping "hey Cap y/n isn't doing goo I'm going back with them and Wanda I can try and keep them stable until we get to Bruce but you keep fighting and don't let me down" his voice trying to hold in the panic as the jet door closed, both him and Wanda were standing over me accessing my condition their voices fading before everything went silent.

Wanda's POV

I knew the ride back would be long and we didn't have much time y/n was fading right before me and I couldn't help them, I felt helpless I couldn't lose them. I scanned over their body trying to help any way I could but deep down I knew it was about my level of expertise, Tony was trying to help by reading vital signs as I grabbed some bandages to stop the bleeding, I applied pressure but it was no use no matter how much pressure I applied the bleeding wouldn't stop, I felt defeated as I ran my hand along y/n's cheek  as I fell to my knees as my voice broke "hey listen to me I know you are tired but you have to hold on for me ok? Please because I need to tell you something so for me to do that, I need you to fight alright we are going to get you fixed up and you will be good as new I promise just hold on if not for yourself or me then for Nat she needs you too ok?" I felt the tears escaping no matter how hard I tried to keep them in, it felt like an eternity as I finally saw the compound in sight.

"Finally."
