" People tell me that life goes on, but to me that's the saddest part."

I rocked her back and forth in my arms, humming softly to her as tears streamed down my face. I hummed her a lullaby to help me pretend she was only sleeping.

He watched as a girl slowly removed her coat and shoes, placing them in a small, neat pile by the bridge,  pulling out a letter from the pocket of her jumper, gently placing it on top of her small pile of belongings. Her sad smile still seemed to light up the world even in this sad moment, the dappled morning sunlight glazing her skin, making the sad scene look almost picturesque.

He watched as she slowly climbed onto the railing in front of her. Her arms spread out, her head leaned back as she took several deep breaths, hesitating, looking for any signs of someone coming to stop her, to tell her everything was going to be okay. But no one did.

The girl sighed, her head lowering in defeat, climbing down from the railing. Her hands trembled as she lifted the note that rested on her coat, slowly opening it. She sunk down to the floor as she read it, her heart shattering at the words she had written. She burst into tears, the wind blowing her hair in her face as people hurried past her.

He watched, furrowing his eyebrows. He didn't dare go comfort her, knowing that it would make things worse. She didn't look for someone to stop her from jumping, she looked for someone who would make her want to jump.

She had been sat crying by the bridge for 10 minutes, her breathing becoming fast as she struggled for air through her sobs that rung out across the empty bridge. The rain soaking both her and him as he watched waiting for the right moment to comfort her.

A shiver ran down her body and he shot up, walking slowly over to where her coat was and gently picked it up and placed it on her shoulders. She didn't lift her head and didn't once glance at the mysterious person who had done something no one else would of. His identity staying a secret from her as she heard his footsteps walking away from her to seek shelter in the cold.

Though they didn't know eachother, they both knew he had saved her life through what he didn't say and what he could've said.
