Lyn walked out to the shed where Shang was, when she pushed the door open he was sitting up holding a sword in his hands."Where did you find that?" Lyn asked.
"Over there, under the hay," Shang replied. "Is it your father's?"
"No it's mine," Lyn said, walking over to him.
Shang looked over at her. "You didn't tell me that you could fight."
"I'm not allowed to," Lyn replied.
Shang didn't understand her people's ways, he found it so odd how different they were from his own, but he assumed that she did things that she wasn't supposed to when no one was around. "Who taught you to fight?"
Lyn looked over at him. "How do you know that I do?"
"You're hiding a wounded Hun in your father's shed, you're a very strong and brave woman," Shang said smiling.
Lyn sighed. "I had a brother, he was a lot older than me, but since I was his only sibling we did everything together, he taught me when we were alone."
"Where is he now if you don't mind me asking?" Shang replied.
"He went away to war, but he never returned... they say that he was killed in battle but no one knew for sure," Lyn replied.
"I'm sorry," Shang said.
Lyn nodded her head, she missed him a lot, ever since he disappeared she had felt even more alone. Lian used to say that when their parents would try and betroth her, he would make sure that it was to someone she liked. He talked about taking her with him when she was old enough, but he died before that time came.
"It's a beautiful sword," Shang said breaking the silence that had fallen between them.
"Yes it is, my brother made it for me," Lyn replied looking down at the sharp metal blade.
Shang sat it down on the floor beside her, he placed the sword beside Lyn. "I have a brother... well an adopted one, Yin Wang's son."
"Do you miss him?" Lyn asked.
"Yes, I don't think that he was there when they left me... but sometimes I wonder," Shang replied.
"Is he like his father?" Lyn asked.
"No he's kind, and he thinks the way I do about the war," Shang replied.
"Then I'm sure he wasn't there," Lyn said.
Shang smiled at her, but it soon faded. "I hope so, I just never thought that they would leave me like that."
