The next morning Lyn walked into the kitchen, she could hear voices coming from the other room, it sounded like her mother and the commander, the front door was past the dining room where they were so there was no way for Lyn to get outside without being seen by them, so she turned around and walked to the back of the house where there was a window that she sometimes climbed through when she wanted to get out of the house without being seen, Lyn climbed though the window and walked out to the shop where Shang was."Lyn I didn't expect to see you out here so early," Hien said, he was standing outside of the front door.
Lyn stared at him for a moment, why was he standing in front of the door like he was guarding it? Lyn nodded her head, this was the first time that she was actually happy that she was not allowed to speak because she didn't have an answer, what could she tell Hien? She couldn't tell him that she was going to see Shang.
"Where were you headed?" Hien asked.
"I was going for a walk," Lyn replied, that was the only thing that came to her mind, plus she did usually go for a walk in the mornings anyway.
Hien nodded his head before he walked back into the house, Lyn was worried about what Hien was up to, she waited a few minutes before she walked out to the shop.
"Good morning Lyn," Shang said when Lyn walked in.
"Good morning, has anyone been around the shop today?" Lyn asked, she was starting to worry that Hien was suspicious of her.
"No, not that I could see, is something wrong?" Shang asked.
"No it's just one of the commander's men is acting... strange," Lyn replied.
"How so?" Shang asked.
"I don't know, he just always seems to be around," Lyn replied, before she walked over to him, "may I redress your wounds?"
Shang nodded his head before he sat up, Lyn unwrapped the cloth from his leg, the wound was getting better it would be fully healed soon, Lyn washed it off with a clean cloth and some water from her flask, she then rewrapped it with some new cloth that was in her bag.
"Don't worry Lyn I'm sure everything will be fine," Shang replied smiling up at her.
Lyn smiled back, as she continued to doctor Shang, "I hope so."
Silence fell over them after that, when Lyn finished redressing Shang's wounds she sat down beside him, she didn't want to go back to her house with her mother and the soldiers just yet, she wanted to spend as much time with Shang as possible.
"Lyn I've been thinking about when I get better... I will have to leave and I was wondering if you wanted to come with me?" Shang asked breaking the silence.
"Where would we go?" Lyn replied.
"Anywhere you want to," Shang said.
"I would love to... but there isn't anywhere we can go, not here in my country if they see you they will kill you, and in your country... I don't know, would we be safe there?" Lyn asked.
"I don't know... but I don't think I could just leave you here either," Shang replied.
"Why not?" Lyn asked.
"You deserve better than all of this, you should know what freedom feels like, I want you to know what it feels like... I can't imagine what it must be like having someone to tell you how you must live your life every day, I can't imagine what it would be like to marry someone you don't love... I want to set you free from that," Shang replied.
Lyn's heart started racing in her chest, she knew she shouldn't but she couldn't help the feeling that she was starting to have like Shang either, he treated her differently than anyone else, he cared about her opinion and how she felt, she would gladly go with him if it wasn't for this war, if either side found them together then they would both be killed, and she didn't know how she could live with herself if something bad happened to him because of her.
