In the morning, I do my same schedule:  tumble out of bed, take a shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, and go to Torture Town-a.k.a school. First hour Language Arts, Health, Social Studies, lunch, advisory (like homeroom), Gym, Math, and finally Science.

During lunch my two friends and I- Aaron, Henry, and Ben are talking.

“Have you seen the storm that’s getting all packed up outside? It looks crazy!” Henry muffles while eating his burger.

“Yeah, it’s kind of scary!” Aaron comments nervously and shakes.

Ben looks around and says spirited- “My mommy told me that everything will be okay. I believe her because… She’s my mommy!” You’re probably thinking that my friends are total goons. Well, you’re right.

“Come on guys. It can’t be that bad.” I walk up to the window to find a big black hole up in the sky along with a really big breeze blowing trees around.  “Wow, you’re right! That is scary!” Our conversation continues until it’s time to go.

I make it through 5th hour and guess what class I’m in now?  MATH.  We have about 45 minutes left of class, and it looks a lot worse than it did during lunch.  I live in Nebraska- and we don’t usually get storms this bad. I’m looking out the window when Mrs. Smith asks me-

“Jason?”

“Yes?”

“What are you looking at?” What do you think bozo? I’m looking out the window!

I sit up straight and say this in the most intelligent way I possibly could-“The window...It looks very suspicious out there” Did that sound smart? “Well, Mr. Neal, are we in geography?”

"No.” Still trying to be smart…

“Well then PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT WE NEED TO BE LEARNING- MATH.” I look and see her furrowed brows, and her fiery eyes smothering my soul. Honestly, that isn’t really something to be that mad about. I’m just looking out a window! Listening to One Direction is a LOT more interesting than listening to Mrs. Smith. Should I say something back? Probably something nice... She looks pretty mad… How about ‘sorry it won’t happen again’?

After a long moment of silence, a crash of wind broke the walls through the middle of the room and glass went everywhere- I could see a few people starting to cry and everyone was screaming. Mrs. Smith went to action--“Everyone come out into the hallway. Don’t bring anything with you, and sit by the walls with your heads to the ground. Now go!” I’ve never seen Mrs. Smith so strict! I looked over to Hailey and saw her screaming and looking for Bridget- her BFF. During this, Mr. Olsen our principal was talking through the loudspeaker- I had no idea what he was saying because everyone was screaming and yelling.

Once we all make it out into the hallway with our heads down, another gust of wind practically tore apart the whole entire room. Then I turn my head both ways to look for Hailey, and I see her to my left! Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod!!! Should I say something? ‘Hey babe’? No. We are in the middle of a tornado! How about... ‘Are you ok?’ yeah...That’s good. Ok... Here we go! I turn my head and look at her with the most passion and longing and ask “Are you okay?”

“Um... Yeah... I’m fine… kind of freaking out... But good. You?”

Our first conversation!! It so romantic!

“Me too, me too. I guess this is a little weird.”Yes yes yes! Good one, Jason.

"What is?”

“Well... I don’t really know you very well, and I choose to talk to you when we are in a tornado.”

Pretty good, keep going…

“Haha, yeah I guess this is a little weird you’re right.”Yeah! Score! First agreement!

Hailey looks into my eyes and beautifully says “Y’know, You’re actually a pretty cool guy, I mean-“Oh my god! She just told me that I’m awesome! This is amazing!

Bridget suddenly looks over and taps Hailey on the shoulder. Hailey turns her head and Bridget asks Hailey something- I can’t hear it though! All I know is that Hailey nodded.

The tornado went for about a minute, but it destroyed a lot of stuff. By this time, the lockers are all torn apart and I don’t think anyone is hurt, but a lot of the school is shreds of wood, metal, anything that we didn’t take with us.

Since I live in Nebraska, we are in the Tornado Alley. That’s an area where we get the most tornados-they just come to our area more frequently...I honestly don’t know much about it, but all I know is that we get a lot of tornados! The last tornado I was in was three years ago- it wasn’t as bad as this one.  I was in 4th grade.
