I wake up to find Mr. Olsen, mom, Marie, Kristy, and a bunch of other strangers.
"Are you alright?” Kristy asks. What’s going on? Why don’t you ask, loser.
“What’s going on?”
Mom explains- “Honey, you fainted. Are you okay?”
“Yeah… I think so. Can I have some water? Can we go home?”
Mom looks at Mr. Olsen, and he runs to go get some water. “Baby, our house got torn up from the tornado. Everyone here has lost their house, so we will have to live somewhere else for awhile. Okay?” What did she say? I’m so tired.
“Okay.” Mr. Olsen comes back with a quarter of a glass full of really warm water. The water fountains might not work very well anymore.
“Thank you Mr. Ol-“*cough, cough*Mr. Olsen said you’re welcome, and Ms. Fisher- one of the school peras comes to him and whispers something. He runs to the pile of wood, and announces this:
“Charlotte Fisher, one of our school peras told me that there is a nice church that didn’t get destroyed, where we can stay. Thank you Ms. Fisher!” Then he blabbers about how thankful he is and gushy stuff like that.
Mom looks back at me. She tells me to drink more water, and she loves me. I hug her and sit up against a large, dusty rock. The tornado is long gone. I gaze around, and see people listening and talking to their kids. I see Hailey, Sitting down crying next to her dad. Steven walks up to her. Steven is a huge muscular guy-he is the ‘hottest’ guy in the school. I don’t see why. His dad apparently is an assistant assistant coach for the Denver Broncos. He has dirty blonde hair, and is really tan. Every girl has some sort of crush on him. I look back at Hailey. It looks like she is yelling at Steven and telling him to go away! Weird. Hailey sits back down and starts to cry again. I wonder what’s wrong? So I ask mom.
“I’m not sure honey... Wait… actually I do know- You know that Hailey’s mom works with dad, right?”
"Yeah?”
"Well, Hailey’s mom died in the fire along with dad, remember?” Mom wiped away the tears flowing across her face. Oh yeah. Dad died. *sniffle* Tears again. Just hold it in.
“Oh, right.”
“I heard that they were in the same room together talking about you and Hailey.”
“How would you know that?”
“The man told me, on the phone.”
“Who was the man?”
"It was Carlos, Dads boss. Maybe he was in the room too? He survived.” Wow. This is a lot to take in.
“What were they saying?” I ask.
“I don’t know. I dropped the phone before he could say.”
