I tend to struggle sticking to single part one shots so I guess they are gonna end up being long one shots that aren't long enough to be a book. Enjoy :). p.s I know this story tells a very simple version of the virus but I didn't feel like going into detail and making this ten years long.

TW: more talk of anxiety and panic attacks, talk about covid-19.

George grabbed his bag off the baggage claim and scanned the airport. He didn't know what Dream looked like but surely he could pick him out. He felt a light tap on the shoulder and a soft "Georgie" and instantly recognised the voice. George dropped his bag swung his body around and bounded onto Dream embracing him in a long hug. He was so happy he wanted to cry. Years and years of talking to the man he called his best friend and finally, he was able to meet him. Dreams eyes looked admiringly at George. Both, apparently lost in a daydream, stayed holding each-other and staring for quite some time before George picked up his suitcase from the floor and Dream led him to the car. Dream put on some music as they drove and George listened to the sound of Dreams adorable voice as he sung along to the songs he loved. He knew every lyric. It was quite entertaining. The song Helium by Glass Animals came on. The two exchanged looks and George caved at the sight of Dreams eyes that were begging him to sing along.

I guess I want you more than I thought I did
Now that I know a part of you is at home with him

Once he got going there was no stopping George. The two screamed the lyrics to every song that played. After a while dream put his head back on the headrest, a contagious smile bursting from his cheeks that caused George to laugh out of pure joy.

"George, your the best."

George felt himself blushing. Dream looked at him as if he was the lord himself. He was putting all is joy and love into this small man sitting before him. George truly made him so happier than anyone else.

"Well I can't be, because your better"

George winked and Dream playfully punched him as they pulled into the driveway of his house. Dream was about to turn the car engine off when an important news announcement came over the radio.
"The new virus is spreading rapidly, some say this could turn into a global pandemic overnight. Authorities are desperately searching for methods of keeping it under control but until then we recommend you were a mask and stay in your homes."

"What do you think that's about?"
George asked
"I've no clue but I'm sure it will pass in a day or two. The media tend to blow these things out of proportion."
"Oh yeah, your right"

Dream led George inside a small home. White walls a few decorations on the shelves. His YouTube play buttons hung on the walls. He had a small living room and dining area with a table big enough for maybe 4 and a beautiful kitchen. George was surprised at how neat the house was. Down the hallway were 3 rooms. A study, Dreams room and the guest room. George put his stuff down in the guest room and walked out to meet Dream was making some sandwiches.
"What's the time Dream"
"About 3:30pm"
"Oh wow no wonder I'm hungry"
George watched as Dream carefully positioned the sandwiches on a plate and placed them in front of George.
"For you sir" Dream announced in a very posh accent.
"Oh why thank you" George giggle as Dream bowed and sat down next to George. There were a few minutes of silence as they both devoured the food. George felt a nudge on the shoulder us Dream playfully pushed him with his elbow.
"Hey" George fake cried "what was that for.
"Just cause I can... I've never been able to do that to you, ever! I can't believe your here I'm so happy your here George"
George smiled and blushed slightly.
"That's really... sweet I-"
George was interrupted by Dream wrapping his arms around him for another long hug. George was taken aback by the affection. He wasn't used to it. It felt good though... too good. George brushed off the slight tingling feeling in his stomach as Dream let go of him and they both talked and laughed for hours catching up on all aspects of life.

George was sitting on the couch scrolling through twitter. He was just chilling out listening the sound of dreams adorable voice hum a song in the background. He froze when he read a news post.

"Dream..."

"Yes Georgie" Dream said walking over and leaning over Georges shoulder to look at his phone. Georges stomach did a backflip at the nickname but ignored it because there was fear boiling up inside of him.

"Dream turn on the Tv"

Dream scrambled for the controller and turned on the news. They tuned in the middle of Florida's local news reporter talking anxiously about the latest topic.

"The new virus has spread to America. We are trying to get it under control however as of tomorrow afternoon if you are in any of these areas you are in lockdown. You can only leave your house for essentials and fines will be issued."

George started to breath really heavily. Apparently Dream heard it because he switched off the tv and sat right next to George. He placed his hand on his back and started rubbing circles.

"Hey, hey George look at me. I'm here, your safe. I know its scary but we will get through it. They're just taking precautions ok."

Tears started welling in Georges eyes and he snuggled in closer to dream. He gripped his hoodie tightly as if Dream was going to disappear if he let go. George had hardly heard much of what the reporter said, only that there is a new virus, he was going into lockdown and that it has already killed thousands of people. George already had an immense fear of getting sick and this just heightened his anxiety to a peak level. He started to rub his hands together, they were already craving hand sanitiser as he sat wondering if he was already sick. George was brought back to reality when he felt Dreams left hand grab his hands, the right hand still rubbing big circles on his back.

"George I promise I'm going to protect you. We wont leave the house, ill disinfect everything and buy us some masks. We are gonna be safe. Focus on deep breaths and the feeling of my hand rubbing your back."

George took deep breaths in and out and focused on the sensation of Dreams hand going round and round and round in circles on his back. He noticed as Dream used a single finger to trace figure eights all over. Georges head cleared slightly and he stopped shaking. He felt more shots of electricity in his stomach when he realised he was practically holding hands with Dream. The butterflies increased when Dream moved his hand up through Georges hair. Dream wasn't exactly sure what willed him to do it, but it felt nice. Was this platonic? Neither of them knew, but Dream smiled as his friend fell asleep right on his chest. He picked George up and brought him to the spare bedroom.  Georges hoodie was drenched with sweat so Dream pulled off his hoodie and shirt. George didn't even stir so Dream took a moment to look at his best friend. he is so cute he thought in his head. stop it your being ridiculous George is just your friend. He quickly distracted himself with finding Georges pyjamas and put his shirt over his head. He layed the brunette on the bed and pulled the covers him. Dream walked to the doorway, turned the lights off and whispered.

"I love you George."

With that he took himself to bed. Ignoring the fast rising feelings, refusing to process them.
