Bendy shrieked and leaped into the air upon feeling a hand on his shoulder.
"Who's there?!" Oswald called out, spinning around to face Bendy.
The light from his torch fell upon the figure of a startled Brer Rabbit.
"Are y'all here ta break the curse?" the rabbit asked shyly.
"Curse!" Bendy cried out.
"What curse?" Oswald asked him.
"Th' curse o' Bad Rabbit!" a shrill voice replied.
Brer Rabbit scowled.
"Ah thought you left." he snarled.
"We did, but we can't go nowhere else."
"Wha's a 'Bad Rabbit'?" Bendy questioned, interrupting before Brer Rabbit could hurl more insults at the fox. (These two fight like Tom and Jerry on steroids.)
"He's been plaguing our lives since the ride opened." the rabbit answered, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.
"That long?" Mickey gasped, horrified.
"Voodoo curse, ah think." Brer Rabbit continued, having not noticed the icon's panic.
"Fo' sure! Some voodoo practicin' chick gets offended an' then we stuck wit a bloodthirsty curse!" Brer Fox growled, expanding upon his confirmation of the rabbits words. (Not gonna lie, Brer Fox's attitude is actually kinda fun to write!)
"He takes!" Brer Bear exclaimed. (You done fucked all the shit up, Brer Bear.)
"Takes what?" Oswald pressed.
An uncomfortable silence filled the attraction.
"What does he take?" Mickey insisted sternly.
"Lives." Brer Fox and Brer Rabbit replied in unison, exchanging a weary glance. (For those wondering, this book is the only time these two are, somewhat, on the same side.)
"Explain." Oswald demanded seriously.
