I never wanted it to be this way. I never wanted to fight or betray anyone. In fact, being a disappointment was one of my biggest fears. But there is nothing I could do now. It was done. And that was that. Here's how it all started, about 2 weeks ago.
"Callista!! Come downstairs or we'll be late!" My dad yelled from downstairs.
I slammed my blue notebook shut and hopped up from my nesting place, (My bed), and threw on some ripped jeans and a white ruffled top. I slipped on some sneakers and grabbed my phone. I stumbled down the stairs and met my dad who was now putting on a tie that had blue checkers.
"Did I really need to change?" I frowned at my white ruffled top.
"We are going out so yes of course,"
I rolled my eyes. This is my dad for you. "It's just Sammy's house,"
"It's a dinner party!" He corrected. "AMBER!!!! COME DOWN HERE!!!"
"Ugh, ok I'm coming, sheesh," My half-sister, (I hate calling her my sister) walked down the stairs on her new pink phone wearing a white crop top, and skinny jeans.
"Great can we go now?" I asked.
"Yeah,"
We hopped into the black van and drove down a hill, turned right, and did a left turn downhill, and pivot to a stop.
"We're here!" I announced.
"I'm not blind," My half-sister rolled her eyes.
Sammy ran from the house wearing a yellow t-shirt and jeans. His hair was gold and curly and he had blue glistening eyes. But I really don't like him in more than a friend way. Sure, he's cute but I like him as a friend and nothing more.
"SAMMY!!!" I yelled.
He's my best friend in the whole world.
"Hi, Callista!" He said cheerfully. "I'm so glad you are here! I was dying of boredom! Amber, Mr. Miller nice to see you,"
My dad nodded and shook Sammy's hand. Amber gave him a forced smile and walked into the huge brick house.
"So what's up?" I asked him.
"Nothing much. You?" He asked.
"Uh...Well, today we talked about my mom," I managed to spit out.
"Oh. We'd better go on a walk," He said. "MOM WE'RE GOING OUT ON A WALK!!!"
"OK BE CAREFUL," She yelled from inside the house.
Sammy rolled his eyes and led me down the driveway and to the left. It was pitch black and all the house curtains were closed.
"This is giving me the creeps," I whispered.
"Same here," Sammy responded gripping my arm.
"Should we head back?" I asked.
The pine trees swayed with the tempo of the howling wind and the owls called. There was a roar at the end of the path.
"YES!!!" He shouted, frantically.
We bolted the other way and didn't stop until we were in the house and the door was locked.
"W-what was that?" Sammy asked.
"I don't know," I admitted. "Let's go to the party though."
"Good idea,"
