I walked inside the house to see candles lit, chandeliers hung, and fluffy couches and chairs set up with sodas for the younger people.
"Come on. The kid's party's over there," Sammy said, hastily.
There was a girl about Sammy's and my age. She had shoulder-length dark brown hair and glasses. She had brown eyes and a splatter of freckles across her face. She was in a black wheelchair with.... toilet paper wrapped around her leg?
"Hello. Is that toilet paper?" I asked pointing to her leg.
She looked startled but soon nodded and smiled. "Yes, my doctor says it helps with the healing,"
"Oh. Cool," Sammy smiled brightly.
The girl smiled back.
"So how do you know Sammy's parents or Sammy?" I asked.
"I'm the daughter of a coworker," She said proudly.
"Who?"
"Uh...John Roberts," She answered.
"Why'd you pause?" I asked skeptically.
"CALLISTA!!!" Sammy scolded.
"No, no it's fine. I'm just a little shy," She shrugged then picked up a plastic cup and drank it.
"Same here," Sammy nodded in agreement and sat down next to her.
I stayed standing.
"Hey, hey, hey!" An older woman came over to us, then looked at me, and turned around.
"She's creepy,"
"No kidding," The girl said, worriedly.
"You ok?" Sammy asked. "And what's your name? I'm Sammy. This is Callista,"
"Don't give out our names!!!" I shouted. "He means he's Sam and I'm Callie?"
"It's fine. You can trust me," The girl smiled and winked.
"Ditto," Sammy smiled.
"Ugh!"
They continued to smile.
"Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
They continued to smile.
"UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"What?!" Sammy looked back at me and raised an eyebrow.
"Nothing," I sighed.
I turned around and headed to the kitchen while Sammy and the weird girl smiled at each other some more. I passed the creepy lady and she watched me the whole time while I was getting a packet of Cheetos. Her hair was tightly tied up in a ponytail and she wore a black blazer. I cocked my head and raised my eyebrows she smiled and turned around.
"Weird," I muttered to myself.
I walked over to my dad who was talking to Sammy's dad.
"Hey, Cal!" He exclaimed.
"Hey," I said glumly.
"Why the long face?"
"I'm sooo bored!" I whined.
"What about Sam?" Sammy's dad asked.
"He's uh busy," I slowly turned my head and Sammy was talking to the weird girl.
"Ah," My dad said, following my gaze.
I turned towards Sammy and started heading towards them.
"Can I talk to you?" I asked him.
"Yeah sure," I said looking up at me.
I stared at him. "Alone!"
"Whatever you have to say she-whats your name again?" Sammy asked.
"Sophie," Sophie said.
"Sophie can hear it too!"
"No! She can't!"
"Can too!"
"CAN'T!"
CAN!!!!!"
"HAVE YOU ALREADY FOUND SOME RANDOM PRETTY GIRL IN A PARTY THAT YOU TRUST JUST AS MUCH AS ME?! YOU ARE THE MOST GULLIBLE PERSON I HAVE EVER MET!" I screamed.
The whole party fell silent. Sammy continued to stare at me, his eyes watering.
"Can I just please, please, please talk to you....alone?" I asked, trying to shake the guilt off.
"F.i.n.e."
