Joe's POV

Thirty seconds ago I was trying to smash Kevin's guitar collection and now I'm sitting on the floor, trying to find out what the hell is making my little sister go unconscious and bleed.

"Roll up her sleeve, Nick!" I said frantically. I would, but I'm terrified of touching blood. Nick seemed to ignore me, but he did roll up her sleeve. We both gasped. There is a ton of blood coming out of her arm. Nick picked her up off the floor and carried her to the bathroom, where he started rinsing the blood off her arm. The water is turning pink, and her nightgown is stained but Nick doesn't seem to care. As quickly as humanly possible, Nick sprints from the room. I catch a glance of her arm and gasp. There are two deep cuts on her arm, one is a thin line but the other seems to be some kind of writing. There are a ton of bruises on her arm, too, but most of them look old. Nick bursts back into the bathroom holding a box of bandages, closely followed by Kevin, a hysterical Mom and Dad. Nick and Mom are trying to bandage her cut, but Mom keeps screaming, "How?" and "Who did this?" between cries. Finally, Nick carries her out of the bathroom to her bedroom. Mom snatches her from Nick, places her on the bed, then forces everyone out of the room so she can change Brook into a new nightgown. Everyone is listening at the door, until Mom screamed. We threw open the door, but Mom tried to get us all out again. Luckily, I was able to slid through and get to the other side.

I gasped. Brooklyn is wearing a light purple pajama top and matching pj pants with clouds on them, but Mom rolled them up and the shirt is short sleeved. Brook has scars, cuts, bruises and darkened skin all over her. She has bandages over the cuts we just washed, but I can't believe how many others there are. Mom pushed me from the room so she could get Brook to bed in peace, but when she opened the door to let me out Nick and Kevin pushed in. Dad disappeared, but they seemed to have been waiting for this exact moment. When Nick saw her he ran over and traced his fingers across her scars, and I could see anger and fury streaking his hand as he ran it over her arm. Kevin just sat on the bed holding her hand in silence.

"All these years....I can't believe.....whoever did this.....it isn't real....my baby.....for six years....I don't understand...." Mom can't even finish her sentences. She left the room in tears, saying to leave Brook alone. But we didn't.
