"Wake up Briar," Niall whispered in my ear, making me jolt back from him in shock. My entire body went tense as I prepared for a fight until I realised who it was.

"What do you want?" I mumbled, rubbing my eyes slowly. I could smell something burning, and when I opened my eyes I noticed how Niall was awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.

"I burnt the spaghetti sauce," he admitted, and I could see he was biting the inside of his left cheek to keep down a smirk threatening to creep across his lips.

"Oh, right," I replied, looking into his glinting blue eyes and beginning to smile. He shook his head as he started laughing, and I joined in too. It felt impossible not to; his laugh was contagious.

When we had finally quieted down, we both went still at the sound of heavy footsteps coming from the steps. The person was very clearly having a rough night.

"What time is it?" I whisper shouted at Niall, standing up from the sofa so we stood side by side staring at the creaking stairs as the person descended.

"I don't know... like ten-ish?" He replied in a hushed tone. I groaned internally, knowing we had woken someone up.

"Can you two shut up? I can hear you from the third floor." A guys deep voice complained, stomping into the room wearing blue plaid pyjama bottoms and a tight black shirt. His dark brown hair was messy from sleep, and his blue eyes looked glossy like he'd just rolled out of bed.

"Sorry mate," Niall apologised, walking over to him. I followed close behind, standing half behind Niall's shoulder quietly. I recognised this guy from the party, it was either Liam or Louis, I just didn't realise how short he actually was; I was at list an inch taller than him

"Whatever." He rolled his eyes, finally noticing me in the room, "Weren't you at my party?" He smiled slowly, recognition flashing through his sharp features.

"Yeah, hi, I'm Briar," I introduced myself, holding at a hand for him to shake. He took it and smiled, obviously not used to such a formal thing. His handshake was quick and sharp, and my small hand was pretty much the same size as his.

"Louis," he informed with a nod, but his jaw dropped soon after and his eyes widened. "What the hell happened to your head?"

My face flushed while I quietly replied, "It's a long story." I hoped he wouldn't ask again, but he clearly wanted a proper answer.

"Did someone do that to you?" Louis questioned with concern, stepping closer to me with a soft frown creating wrinkles between his eyebrows. I rolled my eyes and stepped away from him, folding my arms across my body to close myself off from him.

"I don't want to talk about it, kay?" I spoke sternly, holding eye contact for a while until he looked away. He muttered "fine" under his breath and stepped back.

"Just keep it down, yeah?" Louis reiterated, and me and Niall both nodded quickly. Then, with a very dramatic yawn, Louis left, leaving me and Niall alone in the living room as the sound of light raindrops began to hit the windows.

"Pizza?" Niall suggested, scratching his head absently.

"Pizza." I agreed, feeling my stomach twist at the thought of food.

"Gotta go grab my wallet and phone, wait here," Niall said before disappearing upstairs.

My hand reach my mouth and I chewed my nails as I waited patiently for the blonde boys return. I wondered how Harry would react; he probably wouldn't care at all. Our interactions were weird, we hated each other most of the time and yet there were moments when he'd be so nice. Like when we were laying on his bed talking about our favourite colours, or earlier when he cleaned my cut.

"Let's roll out," Niall made a transformers reference and jumped down the last three stairs. In his hands were two black north face coats, and he handed me one when he walked past.

"Harry's hoodie didn't look very water proof," Niall explained with a wink, making my cheeks redden. He recognised Harry's hoodie which I had completely forgot I was wearing.

"Thank you," I replied quietly, pulling the warm coat onto my body. It was way too big for me, only the tips of my fingers poking out of the sleeves. I laughed and followed Niall out of the door into the pelting rain.

"Nice car, where do you work?" I questioned him while jogging to get of the rain, knowing Audi's were fairly expensive for a nineteen year old.

"I don't, my dad owns a law firm," Niall grinned and rushed to the passengers door, opening it for me with a bow. My eyebrows raised discreetly at the action, suspicions rising within me.

He couldn't know I'm the princess, could he?

I jumped in and slammed the door behind me, shivering as water droplets rolled down my face and dripped out of my hair. Niall got in just as fast, shaking his head like a dog to get rid of the water.

I laughed at this. He laughed with me and started the engine, reaching his left arm onto the head rest of my seat. He looked over his shoulder as he reversed very quickly, seeming unbothered that he could possibly crash.

After pulling out of the parking space he drove on a main road in the direction of what I presumed was a pizza restaurant. To break the silence my hand reached to the buttons on the radio, flicking through the stations until I found a song I liked, All for Us by Labrinth.

I spun volume button up until it couldn't go any further and let the music course through me. The start of the song was acapella, the sound of the mans voice echoing as if he was in an empty church at midnight. Niall recognised the song straight away, looking across at me with a wild grin. His foot slowly pushed down harder on the pedal, accelerating so we were going at sixty miles an hour. I grinned back.

The beat dropped and my head slipped back onto the head rest, the sound of rain hitting the windshield faint under the pulsing of the beat. The road was empty and the night was dark, the only source of light coming from the flickering street lights. The rain continued to pelt down diagonally due to the strong wind. I started to sing under my breath, feeling happy for the first time in what felt like forever.

"I'm gonna take a short cut!" Niall called over the music, and I just nodded in return. The song got louder, dragging me in and keeping a firm grasp on my shoulders. I gave into that euphoric feeling and let go of everything. The murders, the guards, the fight with Harry, I let go of it all.

The tires of the car screeched when Niall turned a sharp right down a thin, dark alleyway. It was completely dark, almost impossible to see in front of us. The car's headlights were the only thing keeping Niall from killing us both.

"Niall, where are we?" I shouted over the music, a weird feeling settling in my stomach. It was heavy and twisted when I got no reply.

Niall's gaze fell from the road and burned into my tear filled eyes. He looked crazy, manic, insane.

"We're gonna have so much fun, princess." He overflowed with laughter, his foot slamming down on the brakes causing me to jerk forwards. My seatbelt dug into my shoulder as I shook with fear at the realisation that he wasn't taking me to get pizza.

"Help me!" I screamed, my hands fumbling to open the door but it was locked. I looked over at Niall grinning at me, his top lip quivering like he was ready to bite.

"This won't hurt... that much," Niall sneered, leaning over the gear stick with a terrifying needle. I pushed my back into the door, trying to get as far away as possible but the needle sunk into my neck painfully.

The last thing I heard before everything slipped into darkness was Niall's daunting words,

"Damon's so excited to see you, Briar."
