The encounter

It must have been around two am. The sun had set a long time ago and now darkness enveloped the whole area. Night has fallen, which meant that most people and creatures had fallen asleep.

Occasionally you could hear the cars passing by or people returning from bars, disturbing the quiet atmosphere around them. On the other hand, inside the forest which was separated by a safety fence, small creatures had started to arise. But they were being way too quiet, not wanting anyone to see them.

Yunho was among these creatures. He was a nocturnal fairy, which meant that he was active during the night, helping the animals and plants that were active too at this time. The full moon illuminated above him, making it easier for him to see around, not that he couldn't do this alone, thanks to his great sight, but he still appreciated it.

His bare feet were touching the cold grass as he was walking along, sometimes making small flowers appear from where he had stepped. His long, white dress was swaying softly thanks to the gentle breeze and his small wings would flatter from time to time, helping him navigate. His white hair were held in place by a flower crown. He had made it himself just before starting his job. His attentive eyes were scanning the area, making sure that everything was into place, always ready to give his assistance.

He loved what he was doing, and if he was able, he would help the day fairies too. But that was against the rules.

He kept walking, muttering small tunes under his breath, being careful to not get spotted from outsiders. That was the last thing he wanted to happen. But, it wasn't like, there was a punishment if someone disobeyed the rules. There weren't any incidents though, were a human learnt about their presence, but even if they were, the fairies weren't in danger. So, for the time being, there wasn't any problem.

Yunho was intrigued by humans. He hadn't encountered one in his life, but he was curious and wanted to meet one. That was his wish. Every day, when the sun arises, this is the last thing he thinks and wishes at the same time. To meet a human.

A small whimper was heard, making him stop daydreaming, and he quickly rushed to the noise, thinking that it was some animal that injured itself. His wings helped him get to the noise quicker, but he stood still at the sight in front of him.

Beside a small tree was sitting a boy, his back facing Yunho, while crying with his knees close to his chest. He was unaware of the fact that Yunho was standing just a few meters away from him.

The fairy had no idea how to react. He was seeing a human for the first time! He was panicking inside. He almost completely forgot that the boy was crying and was lost yet again in his thoughts.

Yunho approached the boy silently, wanting to observe him, take a closer look. The boy sniffled and started taking deep breaths, trying to calm himself. He lifted his head, wiping the tears from his eyes, when he saw a person in front of him.

He wanted to scream, he wanted to just stand up and run, but his body was in so much pain and his throat was dry, that he didn't have the courage to do either of those things. He just widened his eyes at the sight of the man, his heart beating erratically fast, new tears forming in his eyes and falling down his face.

The boy in front of him stood still, not moving a muscle and he didn't know if that was a good sign or not. But the more they stayed in that position the more time he had to observe him. He was tall, like, maybe taller than himself and that alone intimidated him. But he attire and face didn't give off such a scary aura. Rather, he was curious who would wear such things, at this time of the night inside a forest.

But then something clicked. The tears weren't blurring his face, and made it easier to see the man. The first thing he saw was a transparent pair of wings, and that alone made him want to scream. Moving upwards, he spotted two pointy ears and a pair of silver eyes looking straight at his own. Was the man a.. No he couldn't be, these things exist only in stories.
