I'm panicking as I throw things around my wardrobe, trying to figure out what the hell do to. "How is this even possible?" I'm muttering desperately to myself, holding up a black dress against my body before shaking my head and dropping it again, remembering that's the outfit I wore for prom.
After all the work we've been doing on the Winter Formal again, after all my preparation and healing and organisation, I literally forgot to buy a dress.
The thing is, it wouldn't be that big of a problem usually. I'd just wear the first simple dress I find, like I did for prom last year (five years ago, whatever, technicalities). But this time I have a date, with Peter Parker, and while we've been dating for months already it doesn't mean I'm any less tense about it.
We both don't really care about dressing up, so while Alexandros was talking all about matching outfits and stuff last week, we just shrugged. It doesn't matter in the end, because we know we're close, so why would it matter what other people think of our clothes?
But it's Peter.
I grab my phone, about to call Danielle and ask if she has anything, when I pause. Ky told me last night that he was going to try proposing to her tonight, and I can't suddenly burst in during their movie at hers just because I don't have a dress. Ky's been waiting five years for this, after it didn't work last time, and I'm not about to intrude.
My phone vibrates and I panic, pulling it out, only to see a message from someone I'm currently trying to avoid in my stress.
