It was Junior year and I knew that It'd be grief, because of one particular reason..,

Still no car!

Walking to school had become an every day process since last year, really after Jamal and I's break up.

Luckily, Marlie only stayed a few blocks away from me and it was one relief that had gotten me through the burdens of everyday lonely walks.

Marlie has a car but it isn't fixed. I mean there's like a thousand dollars in damage. Sucks when you can't afford the repairs huh.

When I touchdown on Marlie's avenue I was met with loud arguments and immediately became dismayed. Marlie's aunt Therese and her antagonizing ways was always Marlie's down fall and anywhere but home was always Marlie's escape from her.

Nearing the house I found Marlie sitting out on the porch crying along with her sister Mickey who suffered from Down syndrome. Mickey was only 10 and would often face serious problems from her diagnosis. On top of that, their aunt Therese didn't give a damn and all she wanted was Mickey's disability check..

Making my way into the yard and approaching the girls I immediately removed my carry over and took a seat on the porch a few steps down from where Marlie sat. Her hair was a mess and by the looks of her outfit, her plans were to attend school for the first day but something went terribly wrong.

"I'm sick of this shit!" Marlie immediately started venting. "I can't go to school because I didn't have money to pay Mickey's sitter cuz that bitch in there wanted to spend it all on dope." Marlie wept.

It was sad, real sad. Sadly Mickey only attended school three days out of the week and those days were only Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. She'd need somebody to watch her the other two days until Marlie was out of class.

I mean, just last year Marlie was on the verge of failing and repeating the 10th grade due to the many days that she had missed. But it was all for Mickey, Marlie loves little Mickey and so do I. She's so sweet.

I went to consult my friend and Mickey who was crying only because Marlie was. Her heart was just that open

After 8 minutes of embracing my friend, she insisted that I get to school before I was late. That was what I loved about Marlie, she was never quick to drag others down in her misery. She knew how to handle herself and she'd always build herself back up. I asked her how and her answer was "God"

I spotted Aleeyah standing near the outside post where most of the kids hung out before class, really senior kids.

She was talking to Ebony, our other friend whom was a bit timid and outrageous at times. But she was a good person.

I walked up to them greeting, "hey loves.."

They both smiled pulling me into a group hug.

"Bitch you looking good I see.." Aleeyah screeched looking over my fit. It was simple, leggings and a crop top with the latest J's thanks to Nana.

"Why ya'll standin' here?" I questioned the two. Everybody knew this was basically where all the hoes stood waiting for dudes to pull-up. This was the hang out, the student lot.

"Bitch you know the routine!" Ebony said flipping her long curly 24 inch weave over her shoulder.

"Mm hmm." I smirked while shaking my head.

"Where's Marlie?" Aleeyah questioned.

"She ain't coming.." I simply said knowing that Aleeyah was about blow shit out of proportion now.

"Why! This is the first fucking day! Don't tell me it's Therese again?" Leeyah said. I nodded pulling out my phone checking for the time

"So about this party," Ebony said changing the subject.

"I'm getting my papa's car and I'll pick ya'll up." Aleeyah confirmed.

I nodded.

There was the sound of loud pipes, making its way toward the school. The dark green Camaro with black stripes and dark tinted windows followed by a dark blue Challenger with black stripes and dark tinted windows.

Everybody knew who it was, Jordan and Damien.

Leeyah and Ebony weren't at ease at all and was anxious to see these niggas like they were some gods or something.

I admit I was looking too, but only just to see how they looked. I mean c'mon it's the first day of school don't we all check for other mothetfuckers!

Damien got out of the challenger sending spit from his mouth a few feet over into the grass, Gross!

Soon after, Jordan stepped from his car. His freshly cut hair with the curly top, tattered flesh from his neck to his waist, and that small bundle of chin hairs. It was all sexy!

"Mm, do you know what I will do with that?" Aleeyah said as she eyed Damien hungrily while he and Jamal made their way toward a slew of other guys and girls who were seniors.

I glared at her while shaking my head.

"What Payzli I can't help it that he's sexy.." She started to comb her fingers through her curly weave repeatedly.

I shook my head moving to the left of her taking my stand between her and Ebony.

"Omg, they're coming our way." Ebony screeched a little.

I shook my head as both girls made themselves more noticeable.

Damien made his way toward us rubbing what looked like some left over tobacco from a splitter-rillo from the bottom of his shirt.

I looked over at Aleeyah who watched him as if she were in a trance.

He looked up, finally catching on to her gaze where he let a small yet appealing smile cross his lips.

He was now feeling himself. But that was typical Damien. He felt himself often knowing that he could have any chick in this school, well any but me!

Aleeyah looked away blushing shyly as he made his way closer getting ready to by pass us all.

"Hey Damien.." Ebony spoke.

"Sup shortie." He spoke moving past us.

Aleeyah looked back only to be met with the gaze of Damien who had done the same. Leeyah quickly turned around making Damien chuckle and shake his head continuing through the crowd of people.

She's not gonna make any good from this situation!
