"Oh Mo..." Nana said as she opened the door. Walking in, I gather her in a hug and head towards the kitchen. "I know Nana, I shouldn't have gotten into any trouble, but I had no choice." Sitting at her island, I watch her head towards the coffee maker and wait for her to speak. Moments later, she brings over two mugs of coffee and takes the seat across from me. "Listen, your dad called me once he noticed you were gone. They said it was some prank you pulled but you know I think otherwise." Taking a sip of coffee as I looked deep in her eyes. "He wants me to come home?" I say looking in my cup hoping for good news. Shaking her head, I look up and see a small smile on her face. "You are in trouble, but I talked your father into letting you stay here tonight. I'm going to bring you to school in the morning but after that, you need to go home and tell your dad what happened." Nodding my head, I knew she was right.

"Nana, can I go sit in the backyard?" A smile grew on her face as she stood, and we headed towards the back. Her patio was amazing but looking out into the yard, you could see an opening and trees surrounding it. With all the noise of the city, this is the quietest you can get and its heavenly. Walking to the middle of her yard, we take our seats and when you look up, the stars shine, and it brings some peace inside of me. "Nana..." I start but I see her hand rise. "Tell me what happened today." Agreeing, I explained why I was there and told her about the guys from school stealing from the hospital and how I needed to take action. It's so easy to talk to my Nana and she understands me but my dad, nothing I do is right.

"I think what you did was right only because I would have done the same thing. You need to understand your father grew up in a different time than I and he became very disciplined in himself the more goals he wanted in life. That he gained from your Papa Luke. Not me, I wanted to be in the woods and be free. If there was something that needed to be done, I didn't ask." Smiling, I knew she was right. Things are different now. With so many people crammed into one city, the last thing I should be doing is causing more problems for my dad. "Nana, how did you meet Papa? I know how my parents met and it was love at first sight with the mate crap, but what about you?"

Hearing Nana laugh, she reached over and held my hand. "Your Papa was an amazing man. When we first met, I hated him. I was human at that point and had no knowledge about the creatures. When I went to salvage wood from my neighbors abandoned house, I ran into a rogue vampire, and he attacked me which led to this nice scar." Lifting her shorts showing a massive line. "Holy shit Nana." Lowering her shorts, I watch as she leaned back in the chair, looking up at the stars.

"Your Papa watched and didn't help as I fought it and after I got a good look at him, he was the most beautiful man I have ever laid eyes on. No matter how much he wanted to help me, I kept denying him because all I was told was the monsters were evil and we couldn't trust them. I fell in love with him before he told me what he was and after, I loved him even more." Looking up at the stars, I shake my head. It is crazy to think these are her memories, but folks call her crazy and say none of the things happened.

A few years ago, my Papa passed away from what the doctors said was cancer, but Nana knew better. She said he was having dreams about the past and what actually happened. After doing some digging around, he got very sick suddenly and passed away. It made the whole family question since he is the only known wolf to have cancer and die from it but once the doctor's test came, it made everyone stop questioning. Everyone but my Nana. She is the most determined woman I have ever met, and my dad said I am just like her, which I don't think is bad thing.

"Nana, do you think the way I am is a bad thing? I just can't help feeling restless all the time." Turning my head, I see her looking at me with nothing but love. "You are the perfect mix of me and your Papa. There is nothing wrong with you so don't you ever think that about yourself." She is right as always. If they can't accept me the way I am then they can kiss my ass.

"Speaking of your father, he told me they are planning your birthday party next week." Rolling my eyes, I place my hands on my lap. I hate the thought of my birthday. Once you turn eighteen is when you are able to sense your mate which my parents are hoping it will calm me down. Little do they know; I don't want a man to tell me what to do. "Yea, and I'm not going. Mom picked out this pink floor length dress and its horrible." Hearing Nana laugh put a grin on my face. "Well, good thing I picked one for you. I will give it to you but there is no peeking until you put it on. Your mom is going to be livid, but I don't care, pink will not go with all those tattoos and piercings my dear." Pointing to my arms while she spoke.

"Alright, I will go for you but that means if shit hits the fan, I'm coming here." Nodding in agreement, we both relax in our chairs. Not realizing I was tired, I dozed off breathing in the smell of nature.
