It was now time for the transformation. I rushed home, threw my backpack on the ground, washed, and got to work.
I washed my hair and myself, got on my pj's, and got to work. I took off my glasses and put on a face mask to make my face smooth. I put cucumbers on my face too. I waited for 1 hour and took the mask off. I looked actually good for once! I then applied a special cream to my face to make it even more smooth. I watched some make-up tutorials on youtube to find out how to do make-up.
Next was my closet. "Diiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggg doooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Went to our Ring Camera doorbell. I checked the monitor and surprise, surprise! It was Abayomi.
"I turned on my voice - speaking for the monitor and said to Abayomi, "Girl, whatchu doin here?"
"Omg, heyyyyy, best fren! I've missed you!" Abayomi replied. I, of course, let her in.
"I'm trying to get popular so I'm transforming!"
"Ok, but Mika, you is beautiful the way you are."
"I think you mean 'you are beautiful' Yomi."
Abayomi sighed and face pumped, "Mika if you want to be cool and popular, you need to stop correcting people. It's actually quite rude." Abayomi said in her stern, but friendly British - American accent.
"Ok, ok, I'm sorry!" I mumbled putting my hands up in surrender. I sat down because I knew I had to. Abayomi started undoing my coily ponytail.
"Wow! I never knew your hair was this long! And coily!" Abayomi exclaimed.
"Yea, it's been long since I've taken it out," I said surprising myself while looking at it. "I guess it glowed - up. Too bad I couldn't."
"Mika, don't say that. You're my girl and you're beautiful." Mika said in her soft voice while hugging me from the back a little bit. As she spritzed water in my hair and put in leave-in conditioner, I was thinking of what I would now wear.
"It has to be cool. It has to be cool. It has to be cool. It has to be cool. It has to be cool. It has to be cool. It has to be cool," I thought to myself. "Maybe I could start saying 'y'all' and 'is' and 'girl'."
Abayomi finally finished conditioning my hair. It looked full of life again. "Wow," I said.
"Yea, I am gobsmacked(amazed) right now. I'm very proud of myself and you.".
"Thanks. I'm glad you're helping me glow - up.".
"No problem! We besties!" Abayomi smirked.
"Yup," I responded.
Abayomi ended up doing nice box braids. They hurt SO much. Well, beauty is pain I guess. Yomi's mom let her sleep at my house because she was working shifts and her dad had recently gone overseas again(her mom transports goods and her dad is in the army). We were excited about that.
"Thank god your mom let you sleepover. We have to do more stuff!" I sighed.
"Absobloodylutely! I would've lost the plot(gone crazy) if she didn't say yes! Phew!"
"As we were climbing into the double bed, we were just talking about the plan, and how I would glow up and all that stuff. We kept talking until I heard Abayomi's faint snore. Slowly, I fell asleep and dreamed that one day, I too would be popular.
