3rd person POV

"Here, I've cut up some fruits for you," Amanda commented as she placed a beautifully arranged plate of sliced fruits near Hunter. He had finally been discharged from the hospital, but he was not yet fully recovered, with bandages still wrapped around his hands, requiring external assistance with certain tasks.

Hunter had not heard from Ethan since that fateful day, and he did not want the thought of him to ruin his current happiness. However, he couldn't ignore the fact that the man in the hospital was not merely bluffing - Hunter knew he meant every word he had said. Ethan was going to play with Hunter and his life until he broke him.

"Thank you, my love," Hunter replied, his voice filled with gratitude.

Amanda leaned closer and placed a gentle peck on his lips. "I'm sorry, but I have to leave for my classes now. I'll be done by 1 PM," she informed him.

Hunter gently pulled her closer and captured her lips in a soft, tender kiss. "I understand. My driver can take you there, is that okay?" he asked.

"Yeah," Amanda agreed. They bid their farewells, and she soon departed.

A few minutes after Amanda left, Hunter got up from his seat and decided to drive himself to Brian's house. It was Brian's day off, and instead of calling him over, Hunter opted to visit him personally. The drive to Brian's place took around 20 minutes, but when he arrived, he found that his trusted friend was not home. Undeterred, Hunter then decided to go to Brian's girlfriend's house.

Her place was not located in the safest part of town, but that did not seem to bother Hunter much. The small, cozy abode had a warm and inviting atmosphere, even before stepping inside.

Hunter knocked a couple of times on the door until a young black woman answered. Her expression at seeing Hunter standing there was one of pure annoyance.

"You can't let him have time to himself, can you?" she asked, leaning against the doorframe, the strap of her black nightgown sliding slightly down her arm.

"Knowing he's sharing a bed with you doesn't necessarily put me at ease. I just want to make sure he wasn't stabbed in his sleep," Hunter remarked.

The woman glanced at Hunter's bandaged hands and then at his overall appearance. Hunter did not approve of this woman's relationship with Brian. She was the rebellious daughter of a mafia organization, also a trained assassin by profession. Her involvement with Brian had almost gotten him killed on several occasions, but Brian still refused to let her go.

"I wish they had cut out your tongue instead of going for your hands," she commented, noting that Hunter's injuries were probably not from an accident in the kitchen.

"Where is Brian?" Hunter asked.

She sighed and walked in, leading the way to the living room, where they found Brian sitting on the couch in his boxers, watching television.

"Who was at the door, babe?" he asked.

"Hunter," she answered.

Brian quickly stood up and turned to face Hunter, visibly surprised by his unexpected visit. The girlfriend left the room, giving the two men some space to talk.
