About a month ago, if someone had told Jungkook that he would be dating his highschool crush Park Jimin, he would've blushed and shaken his head with a wistful glint in his eyes. And if another someone had told him that he would be dating a celebrity, he would've rolled his eyes, wondering why people were so illogically optimistic these days.
He still couldn't believe it. Being with Jimin was like a beautiful dream, with everything he'd ever wanted-long drives under the moonlight, lazy strolls with the sun setting in the background, cuddles on the couch. And most importantly, Jimin. The omega was just as hopelessly romantic as he was. He'd play songs for Jungkook on his guitar and had also shyly confessed that he wanted a song about their relationship on his upcoming album. Jungkook had pretty much squealed and jumped into the other's arms, screaming 'YES!'
But, alas, there were downsides of dating Jimin. As they spent more time with each other, so completely enamoured, their differences became glaringly obvious. Being in the spotlight was a mark of Jimin's success. But it had taken a toll him.
It was a nippy Sunday night when Jungkook had first realised this. They were out on a date at a fancy new place Jimin had insisted to take him to and though they had made reservations, there was a long line of people ahead of them.
Jungkook was fine with it, after all, he was spending time with Jimin. They hadn't seen much of each other lately, with Jungkook being busy at the hospital and Jimin having to attend family gatherings.
"We can cut through, Jungkook. Obviously, they'll let us in after they realise it's me," Jimin had whispered.
The alpha had shot him a puzzled look. "What do you mean?"
"You don't honestly think they'd make Park Jimin wait, do you?"
Jungkook couldn't believe what he'd heard. "Well, Park Jimin is as human as the others. Surely, a ten minute wait isn't too much to ask for."
Jimin looked away, not wanting to let the hurt show on his face. But when it came to Jimin, nothing missed his boyfriend's eyes. Jungkook put a hand on his cheek tenderly as he tried to get his gaze on him. "I don't understand, Min. I mean, the others probably got here before us, that's why they're ahead in line. They get to eat first, fair and square. What's your take on that?"
The omega licked his lips as he took in what he'd said. "I-I'm sorry. It happens sometimes. All that special treatment gets to your head and before you know it, you think you're above everybody. It's horrible. And I can't possibly justify this. You make total sense and god knows how much I needed that reality check."
He leaned in to kiss Jimin's forehead lightly. "It's alright. You really are beautiful but you're only human after all. And I'm here to keep you grounded. Don't worry about it."
And Jungkook's broke college student-like lifestyle was partly amusing, partly scandalising for Jimin whose vanity products filled an entire cupboard.
"You have a thick blanket as your pillow, Kookie?" the omega had asked, concerned.
Jungkook had embarrasedly said, "Thanks for reminding me about that. If eomma finds out I still haven't bought pillows she'll be after my blood."
Once, when Jungkook had spent the night at Jimin's place, he hadn't found a single soap that wasn't cherry scented. He was a 25 year old alpha, a doctor in the making for heaven's sake. He couldn't go around walking with his hands smelling of flowers.
"Babe, don't you have any regular soap?" he'd asked.
"Regular soap?"
Jungkook had shrugged. "You know, the kind you get at convinince stores? Dettol?"
"But why use that when you can have moisturising and good smelling soap?" the omega had said, holding up his hands.
He'd just shanked his head. "You really have to take care of your skin, don't you? I can't imagine how much pressure you have on your shoulders to always look perfect."
Jimin had sighed. "My hair stylist would kill me if I don't wash my hair every alternate day."
And then a simple conversation about soap had morphed into Jimin sitting on Jungkook's lap, going on and on about how he had to maintain himself while the other hummed sympathetically.
But despite all of that, Jungkook was the happiest he'd ever been. Because every time some of their differences got in the way, Jimin would prove how much he cared for him. Like the time when Jimin picked Jungkook up from work but asked him to keep his eyes shut as they entered the alpha's apartment and stay that way until Jimin told him otherwise.
And finally when Jungkook opened his eyes, he saw fluffy pillows sitting on his bed. Jimin had then ushered him into the washroom, telling him to freshen up. Inside, right beside his bottle of liquid hand soap, was a tube of hand cream. He'd asked Jimin about it as he watched him make dinner for the two of them.
Jimin had shyly murmured, "Ah, well, I know you prefer using normal soap but that can make your hands rough so I got you the lotion to keep them moisturised. It's nothing, really."
And Jungkook had felt himself fall even harder for his boyfriend. Park Jimin really was something.
