The Dark Forest Show: Part I

16. Erika

As it's impossible to escape, you start talking with Erika. After all she can't hunt you.

"Why are you here?"

Erika: "I just need the money. You know, we are Level 1 and we have no money to pay our house. I never thought I could do something like you know... kill people. Because that's what we do. People get fun with it."

You see in her eyes she tells the truth

"Eating people like me? Is that?"

Erika: "Like you, like me when I passed from being a predator to being a prey. Does it really matter? Anyway I've heard next season will be introducing innocent people from all ages to keep the audience happy."

"I'm innocent"

Erika: "Do you think it matters?"

"No... I guess"

Erika: "Kate was always the smart of the family. She thought she could plan the best way to win this season. I was here just to protect her. She was smart, but she was my little"

"How many people had you..."

Erika: "16. Just like her age. 14 she and 2 me. And guess what. I don't regret it. You know, once you start eating people. God. That's like a drug. You can be an angel or you can be a demon, when you start you can't stop. But I'm sure you would have done the same if you were in my situation."

"I guess, look..."

Suddenly you see her padlock.

"Erika, what colour is my padlock?"

Erika: "Is red. Why?"

You remember the paper that the guard gave you before jumping.

"I think I know how can we scape"

Erika: "How?"

"Now I understand it. I lost a very important paper, but I can remember the numbers 08028, they were written in green, like your padlock. There was another number, in red, like my padlock but I couldn't even see the number"

Erika: "What do you mean?"

"Look, we can escape, but we have to do it together. We have to trust each other"

Erika nods.

"Padlocks have a numerical key. Do you arrive at the numbers?"

Erika: "I think so"

"I want you to put one number. Once you open it, just get her tools and break my chains"

Erika: "Got it"

"Just put 08028"

Erika puts the numbers and the padlock opens. Erika gets free.

She goes to the tools and she gets an axe.

"That would not break the chains"

Erika: "That's not for you, that's for me. I'm gonna kill this bitch with that, I will open her belly and I'll save my sister"

She goes to the door when she stops.

Erika: "I don't know if you are really innocent or not. I don't care"

She looks for something, but tools are too poor.

"Look on the red box" you say

She opens it and you don't like what she finds.

Here they are, their shrinking guns. She puts one on each hand and goes to you. You hear her stomach gurgling, she puts in front of you and she shoots.

You close your eyes regretting doing what you have done.
