"You ever notice how he just takes the bullying?" You shake your head at the boy at the far side of the cafeteria. Your friend Saiko, glances in his direction.

"Quit staring, y/n!" She hit your shoulder. "They might come over here."
"They don't mess with girls." You roll your eyes, turning back to your plate of food. "I'm not even hungry." You push it away as you look back at the boy.

You were in the same class and everyday he'd come back with new bruises. His tormentors a year older than him and they never missed a day without pushing him around.

"Hey y/n." You heard as you turned to face the front. You suck your teeth as you look up. His bullies were right beside you. The leader taking a seat between you a Saiko.

"What do you want?"
"Don't be so hostile." He tosses an arm around your shoulder. "Let's get out of here." He whispers, smiling widely.
"Go away, Kai." You wave him off.

His smile disappears as he groans, getting up from his seat. "Hey." You grab his hand.
"What? Changed your mind?"
"Leave him alone would you?" You subtly gestured to the battered boy, struggling to look up as he adjusted his glasses.

"Oh don't act like you care!" He laughed. "You don't even know him. I'll see you around yeah?"

His friends got up and left with him. Saiko finally took a breath.
"Are you crazy?"
"I told you they don't mess with girls."
"Can't believe you used to date that guy."
"Don't remind me." You scoffed.

You looked onto the boy, his body shaking slightly. He'd have to go through it all again in a couple hours.

"I'm gonna talk to him." To that Saiko laughed. Wildly of course. That was just her. "Good luck! He doesn't talk to anyone."
"Well have you tried?"
"No. Those idiots are always around him." She sucked her teeth, shaking her head in the direction Kai and his goons went. "Assholes."

In a fit of confidence, you got up making your way through the cafeteria. He glanced up quickly as you approached.

"Hello. Can I sit?"
"S-sure." He said softly, keeping his head down.
"What's your name?" You sat across from him.

He glanced up again and you caught a glimpse of his bruised eye.
"Why are you here?" He took his glasses off quickly.

His lenses were shattered and the frames were broken at the bridge.
"Can you get them fixed?" You picked them up.
"W-why are you here?"

You shrugged putting down his glasses.
"Thought you needed a friend. I'm Y/N." You held out your hand.

He looked at it shortly before clearing his throat.
"Niragi."
"I like it."
"Aren't you his girlfriend?"

You tilt your head to the side.
"Who's? Oh Kai?" He opens his mouth to speak but nods his head instead. "No. I was. I'm not anymore."
"Oh."

"If you want me to stop him-"
"No use." He grabs his bag, sliding the strap on his shoulder and holding it tight. He stands up quickly, collecting his lunch trash.

"Nice to meet you, Niragi."

~~~ After lunch you went to the rest of your classes, looking out the windows for half of them. Once in a while the teacher would shout.
"Ms. Y/L/N! Stop the daydreaming." And you would regain focus but not for long. More often than not, your attention would turn back to the windows. Wide open practically begging you to look.
After your last class, Saiko found you in the hall.
"Hey hey." She smiled, linking your arms. "How did the talk with the punching bag go?"
"Don't call him that. He has a name."
"He talked to you?"
She widened her eyes as you came to the stairwell, going down with fellow students. "Yes. His name is Niragi. Cute right?"
"Oh somebody has a crush."
"Not even. He's just a little scared."
"Of?"
"Well... everything." You giggled.
Once you got outside, it started to drizzle. Saiko yelped as she put up her umbrella, pulling you under it. You pushed away giggling.
"It's not that bad!" You ran a bit, spinning around in the light rain.
"Y/N! Come on!"
"You're no fun Saiko!"
You laughed as you took your usual shortcut home. Saiko followed in little steps.
"What's that?" Saiko called.
"What?" You turned to her. All you heard was the light tapping of the rain against objects nearby.
"Listen."
There's a moment of silence between you two and then you hear it. Some one grunting in pain.
Saiko walked towards the noise and you ended up under a bridge.
"That's Niragi." You told her. The sight was brutal. Kai kicking him ruthlessly as the others held him from fighting.
"Even the rain can't stop his daily ass whooping." Saiko shook her head as you started walking.
"Hey! I told you to leave him alone!" You pushed Kai to the side. He grinned smugly as one of his friends took a hold of you.
"Ah hey y/n." He brushed his hair back. His hands hinting of blood. "Let her go. She won't do anything."
You pulled away from his friend and ran to Niragi. You helped him to his feet, letting his body lean into yours.
"What is wrong with you?" You scold Kai as he takes a seat on the ground.
"When are we getting back together?"
"Are you serious right now? Niragi, are you okay?"
"Ah he's fine. I didn't break anything...I think." He laughed.
"You're sick Kai!"
You held onto Niragi as you walked back to where Saiko was standing. She put her umbrella down and helped you with his other side.
"Hey Saiko! Watch your friend will you?"
~~~~ "Where's your house?" You hand him a bottle of water.
"Y/N, it's getting late." Saiko urged you.
"You can go. I got him."
"You and your activism."

With that she started her own way home but you stayed. He grabbed the water bottle, taking a small sip.

"I don't really have one."
"Well where do you sleep at night?"
