A day passed, and I laid awake and still on my bed. Last night, I made sure to pack out all my boxes so I wouldn't wake up with mountains of cardboard around me. The house was silent for 20 minutes before Maddie's elephantine footsteps walked down the hallway and stopped outside my door.Thank god I was already awake
The next thing I heard was my door being flung open as she barged into my room. I groaned and turned in my bed, letting her know I wasn't interested, but I should've known Maddie wouldn't take no for an answer. I looked at my alarm clock and realised that it was only 10:04 am on a Sunday. Maddie jumped onto my bed, and her ass landed on my legs, completely crushing them with her bony ass.
"You fucking stick figure, why can't you just be normal?" I shouted in agony.
"God no, that's so boring. My mental instability gives me so much character," She said, dramatically flicking her hair over me.
"Why are you here?" I removed my comforter from over my head. There wasn't much room to manoeuvre so I slowly sat up. She was sitting on top of my legs at the edge of the bed and was slowly stopping the circulation.
"We only have a few days left of summer break, and this is fucking California, for god's sake, we can't not go sightseeing."
"We have nobody to bring us anywhere."
"Invite that really hot European you met yesterday."
"What makes you think I can?"
"You walked her home, and knowing 'your ways,' you somehow got her number."
"My ways?" I questioned to feign my innocence.
"Yes, your 'fuck boy' ways you bitch, you know what I'm talking about." She jumped off my feet, and I sighed in relief. Next, she walked to my wardrobe and rummaged through the drawers, trying to find me an outfit to wear today.
"Maddie, I can pick out my own clothes."
"Can you?" She questioned.
She had always raised an eyebrow at my fashion choices. I never really put much care into it anyway, so on some level, I don't blame her. But on the other hand, my sense of style hasn't put me at a disadvantage. She, on the other hand... it takes about an hour for her to decide what she'll wear and then another half-hour styling the clothes she decided on because 'there's more to getting dressed than just putting clothes on.'
I threw my comforter off me and joined her at my drawers. She hadn't done much picking; initially, I think she only intended to mess up my neatly arranged clothes. I smacked the back of her head as lightly as I could and pushed her away.
"I will be ready in 20, I'll text her now." I sighed.
This caused Maddie to giggle and clap her hands in excitement. She's very much like Rebecca in that way. Very loud, energetic, and over-enthusiastic.
"Wait," She calmed immediately, "Won't it be weird if it's just us three?" Maddie stroked her imaginary beard. "Invite Mum."
I raised an eyebrow silently asking her to be more specific.
"Rebecca is here, plus she seemed to like Talia."
"Who wouldn't?" I grumbled to myself.
Maddie rolled her eyes and scoffs. "Y'all out here being horny on..."
"Aye aye captain, so go ask Mum," I interrupted her thoughts.
Almost instantly, I melted back onto my bed and slide under the covers. I poked my arm out to grab my phone and return to the comforts of my warm bed. Everything's always so damn cold in the morning. I pull up her number and take a deep breath in, mentally face-palming myself for being so nervous.
