Scar circled his giant snail, though avoiding the slime trail.
"Jellie! Jellie? Where are you, Jellie?"
He'd already searched the whole village, and she wasn't there, and his familiar connection to the cat brought him to his snail anyway. Scar nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard a rocket next to him.
"Grian! You scared the life out of me!"
Grian smiled, "Sorry, are you looking for something?"
"Yes. Do you know where Jellie is? We were going to go collect some crystals from the Big Dig, but I can't find her anywhere." Scar started to climb the ladder into the snail, Grian following.
"You sure she's in here?" Grian asked as he stole Scar's door again.
"I'm pretty sure," Scar said, looking in some barrels near a crafting-table.
"Okay," Grian climbed up the ladder to the upper floor of the snail and began to search there, "don't you have a wizard-y connection with Jellie?"
"She is my familiar, so, yes," the mayor of the shopping district climbed the ladder, "that's how I know she's somewhere here."
Grian hopped down the ladder into Scar's old storage room and started looking around the chests while Scar looked in his K.G.O.O.M.D.V.
After some time, Grian sat down on a chest and sighed. "I have no more ideas. 'You got any?"
"JELLIE! JELLIE?! COME OUT, PLEASE!" Scar looked around the room one more time before saying, "Yeah. I got nothing."
As they sat there, in silence, they heard a muffled sound from below them.
"What was that-" Scar hushed Grian, trying to hear it again.
When they heard the sound again, Scar stood up so quickly that the nearly empty chest they'd been sitting on toppled over, taking the little shortie with it.
"Sorry!" Scar yelped, helping Grian to his feet.
"It's fine."
Scar pulled a chest from its place on the floor, to reveal an oak trapdoor. Grian pulled it open and climbed down the ladder. Scar joined him smiling when Jellie meowed, asking to have some food.
"Did you know about this place?" Grian asked, picking up some things scattered around the small room.
"No, actually," Scar picked up Jellie, "I wonder who built it."
"Me too..." Grian said, shakily, looking at the mostly empty room.
"Should we tell anyone about this place," Scar was looking at Grian, concern in his eyes.
"No," The winged hermit said, oddly serious.
"Alrighty then," Jellie snuggled closer in Scar's arms, wanting out of the creepy, dark place that was impervious to magic. Scar climbed out of the room leaving Grian there alone.
He picked up a small picture frame. The frame was broken, the glass was cracked, and the picture itself was scribbled on with red ink so then the faces of the occupants were not distinguishable, except for three things. One of the three was really short, one of them had headphones and the other had bunny ears.
Grian felt his blood go cold, and he hid the picture from sight. As he left the strange hidden room in Scar's snail, he hoped that this wasn't the start of something bad, but knowing deep down, that it was.
End.
