Once the four friends arrived back at Travis's family's townhouse in downtown Aspen, they immediately began setting up for the long night ahead. Travis made his way to the kitchen to work on snacks, Jason went to the living room to work on picking out a large selection of movies, and Kenzie went to set up the living room. That just left Mya. She slowly followed Travis into the kitchen where she saw him dumping corn kernels into a big bowl, setting spices and seasonings out on the counter, and even more.
"Hey Travis," Mya said, returning to her usual self after Katie's assaults.
"Hey, you doing all right?" Travis asked as he put half of a stick of butter in the bowl of corn kernels.
"Yeah, thanks to you..." Mya said with a slight bit of blush.
"Oh...well...it was nothing," Travis replied as he to began to blush a bit.
"Can I help with anything?" Mya asked as she tied her still damp hair into a messy pony tail.
"Absolutely, come here," Travis sweetly replied, gesturing for Mya to come over to the stove. "I'm gonna make a batch of my grandma's butterscotch Carmel corn," Travis said, gesturing to the bag of butterscotch candies and a bag of Carmel cubes. As Travis poured a bit of milk into the pot, he stepped behind Mya.
"Now you want to mix about 2/3 of the bag of Carmel with about 1/3 of the butterscotch candies in the pot," Travis said, handing Mya the bags. Mya carefully emptied a large portion of the two candies into the pot and bit of milk.
"Just like this?" Mya timidly asked.
"Yep, just like that," Travis replied as he picked up a mixing spoon and stood behind Mya. "Now you're gonna fold the two together while they melt," Travis replied as he handed the spoon to Mya. Travis gently held Mya's wrist and guided her hand in the proper mixing motion.
Mya felt Travis's warmth flood her body and her heart soared. She was falling for Travis hard and here she was, pressed up against him, her head resting just bellow his chin. Eventually though, Travis turned back to the kitchen to work on another snack for the night.
Once everyone had completed their tasks, the friends movie night was set to begin. Travis brought bowls of Carmel corn, homemade bbq potato chips, and a bag of pretzels into the living room that Kenzie had set up. There were blankets and pillows set out for each person, each with a perfect view of the large tv in the front of the room. Once everyone was laying down on their blankets with their snacks, Jason scrolled through Netflix and found the first movie, Star Wars: A Phantom Menace. The four friends curled up and began to watch the movie.
The day continued on from a cold, windy afternoon to an even colder, even windier night. The movie night had seen a wide range of movies from Travis's favorite, V for Vendetta which had everyone scared and nervous. They watched Kenzie's favorite movie, Titanic, which caused everyone except Jason to cry. This earned him a good amount of trading for the rest of the night.
At around midnight, Jason selected the next movie, the first Saw. As the movie began, the frights and terrors of the movie got to everyone and each friend jumped at almost every noise in the house. Jason cast a glance towards Travis. Mya had cuddled close to Travis out of fear of the movie and Travis had his arm around her shoulder. Rolling his eyes at the fact that Travis said he didn't like Mya, he turned his attention back to the movie. As he did, the front door of the house burst open.
Travis let out the most girly scream ever as Mya dove behind the couch to hide from whatever or whoever had just broken into the house. Jason crawled behind a recliner while Kenzie bolted around the corner and down a hallway.
"Hello..." A woman's voice called from the door.
"M- Mom?" Travis timidly called from the floor of the living room.
"Jeez kids, what's got you all so scared?" Travis's mom asked.
"Saw," Mya answered, coming out of her fairly obvious hiding place.
"I see. Well, don't stay up to much later Travis. You've got a game tomorrow night," Travis's mom reminded him before she headed upstairs to go to bed.
Travis's mom was an emergency surgeon so she often worked weird and late hours. As the movie night continued on to 2 in the morning, Jason was the first one to fall asleep, passing out right on the floor in front of the tv. Kenzie followed suit a few minutes later and fell asleep in the recliner she had claimed as her own hours earlier.
Once it was just Travis and Mya up, Travis picked one last movie, The Notebook.
"Ohhh, I love this movie," Mya whispered, cuddling closer towards Travis.
"Well, you're not the only one," Travis whispered in reply with a small smile on his face. The pair barley made it five minutes into the movie before Travis fell asleep and he was shortly followed by Mya descending into the land of dreams.
Travis awoke the next morning to the hushed sounds of footsteps near his head. He opened his eyes and saw Jason smirking at him.
"Sure...you don't like her," Jason whispered, trying not to smile.
"Wha-" Travis muttered, his head pounding from the long night before. Jason gestured towards Travis's chest with his head. Travis glances at his own chest and was somewhat surprised at what he saw. Mya's head rested on his chest, her dirty blond hair covering his upper body. The most noticeable thing about the situation though was that both Travis and Mya had their arms wrapped around each other, holding each other close. With a small smile, Travis looked u pro talk to Jason.
"Hey smart guy, I said I didn't like her. I never said I wasn't falling in love with her," Travis whispered, careful not to wake Mya.
"Wait, your in love with her?" Jason replied, a huge smile spreading across his face.
"...yeah..." Travis answered, blushing heavily.
"That's awesome man!" Jason said a bit to loudly, causing both Kenzie and Mya to wake up. Mya slowly stretched away from Travis, unaware of how she had slept.
As Kenzie and Mya both tiredly walked to separate bathrooms to get ready for the day, Jason turned to Travis.
"I'm really happy you actually told me how you feel about Mya," Jason said, sipping a cup of coffee he had made.
"I am too," Travis replied, also sipping a cup of coffee.
"Just so you know, just because you told me you're in love with Mya doesn't mean I'm gonna tell you who I like," Jason said.
"Oh please," Travis scoffed. "I asked who you liked yesterday to be polite."
"What?" Jason asked.
"We were at that figure skating match for 2 hours and your eyes never left the bench. So, either you have crush on our 45 year old married figure skating coach, or you have a crush on her student assistant, Miley."
Travis concluded as he finished his coffee."Is it really that obvious?" Jason sheepishly asked.
"Wait, I was actually right?" Travis asked surprised. "I was just taking a guess," Travis laughed.
"You suck," Jason muttered, glaring at Travis. Travis only smiled back as he went to get ready. When he headed down the hallway to his room, he passed Mya who was blushing and smiling a small smile. Thinking nothing of it, Travis headed into his room to prepare for the day.
What Travis didn't know was that Mya had been standing around the corner to hear the whole conversation between Jason and Travis.
