Author's note: Aghh ok so I'm sorry that this chapter is so serious, or like not as cheery, but I want a backstory. So it's just that more rewarding when we build our love story. Anyways, I don't care if you're not a fan of the glasses but I think it's cool. Think like Tony Stark, Quicksilver (x-men), Cyclops (x-men), Spider-Man, The Falcon, and Stan Lee. Ok anyways, I hope you enjoy the next chapter and vote or comment, I'll love you for it. x Mill

"... you can't numb the pain. It's always there. But, isn't always horrible."

...

It had been a relatively nice night's sleep, your first night at the Avenger's tower. You might have felt rejuvenated, if it hadn't been for the trepidation a dream brought you in the middle of your sleep. Though, you hadn't given it a second thought once you made your way, reluctantly, to breakfast. If it hadn't been for Tony's AI J.A.R.V.I.S alarming you awake that it was breakfast time, you could've slept until one.

Breakfast wasn't as uncomfortable as you had anticipated. Everyone went eating like it was a casual day, so you tried to do the same, unknowing what that was. Bucky had altruistically given you toast. Though, when Tony walked in he was worried, and said you were "malnourished" and needed to "eat up". You couldn't help feel a little offended, but you knew he meant the best.

Additionally, Natasha and Clint had been magnanimous towards you, unlike yesterday. You sensed Tony held a meeting later last night regarding you, when Clint had arrived late after a mission he had been on. Hence her and Clint's warmer character today.

"Lady Dusty are you lost?" a loud voice knocked you out of your thoughts. Turning around, you smiled, facing Thor. The nickname was growing on you, however you found it a bit odd. After having given it some thought you figured the name Ash would have made more sense, rather than calling you literal dirt. But, it was a kind thought, and decided to move with it. It was sweet and idiosyncratic.

"Kind of, Mr. Stark told me to meet him after lunch but I can't find him." you replied.

"Ah yes, Tony does seem to wander of sometimes." Thor said swiftly, leaning back and glancing around the hallway that was stood between the two of you.

"Are you looking for someone?" you asked him, noticing his hurried stature. It was the first chance you had with a solitary conversation with Thor. He was unexpectedly casual.

"Yes actually, my brother Loki. He is here somewhere. I have news to share with him, but he seems to be avoiding me. And now I cannot find him." he replied.

Loki, that was your neighbor's name. You felt slightly stupid for forgetting Thor's brother's name.

"Good luck finding him, I guess." you smiled unsurely at him. Then realized you sounded ignorant and added, "If I see him, I'll tell him to find you."

Obviously, since you could barely remember Loki's name you wouldn't exactly recall his appearance. But figured he'd be the one person you didn't recognize in the Avenger's tower.

Thor beamed and thanked you. "You know, Tony is probably in his workshop." he said. Not like you knew where the that was.

"Thanks Sparky." you grinned.

Thor chuckled. "I'll give you that, but I have to ask."

"Shoot."

"Why are your eyes on fire? And do not tell me that is normal. From what I've noticed, that is not of a normal Midgardian behavior." he asked leaning down, looking closer towards your eyes.

You hadn't realized how large of a man he was until he had stepped towards you in curiosity. You didn't see yourself as a short person, above average height. But Thor stood, at the minimum, seven inches higher than you.
