**** WARNING SWEARING ****
Walking into our grungy boarding school, Nate and I chatted with Alice, our friend with violet hair and a tendency to get caught smoking about T.V.
"Gah, how can you watch that Jersey shit? It’s less entertaining than popping popcorn!"
"Well," I stood up for Alice, "Alice doesn't work in a cinema like you, so popping popcorn is exciting for us,"
"Still..."
"What the hell us that?" Alice signalled to the crowd of high schoolers circling two girls.
"Girl fight," Nate pinned.
And true enough, there were two girls from our form were viciously clawing at one another.
"You bitch, you knew we were dating!"
"Dating? He fucked me the day before he asked you out!"
One part-confused-part-proud jock stood at the edge of the crowd, looking frantic.
"Bull!" She hollered, "He wouldn't do that in a mill-" she began, just as I reached the centre of the fight.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! You're at each other's throats, not that cheating bastard?" I yelled trying to avert their attention. I was now beginning to hold them both away from the other more successfully as they focused their thoughts.
"Well SHE," the brown haired girl hissed, "Hooked up with MY boyfriend."
"Only 'cause you wouldn't!"
"Regardless, you should really go for him together, eh? He mucked you both over." I said.
The girls stopped and looked at each other. The crowd 'Aww' -ed and began to disperse.
"Apologise after you've chased him, okay?" I said quietly, and walked off to re-join Alice and Nate.
"Nice job, bunny." Nate said.
"Thanks." I replied, and we all walked off to first period.
By second period, I was itching to be at Nate's dorm. We went to a school where you could go home on weekends, and I didn't have a bedroom at my parents', so Nate's rooms both on and off campus were quite appealing. I caught Nate's hand-to which he jumped then laughed and clichély swung along as we walked- and asked him what class to cut.
"Ooh, baby doll, I'd have to say I'm free fifth?"
"Thank goodness. Monday-itis." I explained.
"Well, I'll meet you at lunch, and we can get food and chill out at mine."
By this time we were at calculus, and being ushered into silence.
I really hated math, because there was no personal connection. You were either right or wrong.
I began the arduous tasks set for us, and was finished early.
"Well done, Miss West. You may have an early minute." Mrs Brenan spoke. Most teachers wouldn’t give early minutes, but I suppose Mrs Brenan just liked to be in her students’ good books.
I walked out of class, books in hand, and went to the outer edge of the school. I sat in our group’s tree, high enough that teachers couldn’t see you whilst patrolling the grounds, and waited for Nate, Alice, Dolly, Jason and Parker to join me.
Dolly was the resident ‘Emo’ in our group, and enjoyed her black hair and eyeliner. Jason was dating Dolly, mainly because he was a dangerous guy with light brown hair and blue eyes. The walked up to the tree, hand in hand. They were not quite a cute couple and often just had the same relationship as Nate and I.
